Just wondering how buggy this game is. At first I had no problems. Then
there was the classic sound problem when it rains, and I fixed that by
turning down the sound card's hardware acceleration to "basic". But I can
see some weird things happening. First, if I shoot about 1,000 bullets and
they all hit, and my stats say 1000 shots fired and 1000 shots hit. Then I
can fire 1,000 more shots into the air and see 2000 shots fired, 1000 shots
hit... but then I can fire one bullet and hit and suddenly 1,999 of my
bullets have hit a target... @*&#& Wtf, did George Bush Jr. write the code
for that? Just kidding... but it's weird. Aside from that, the game crashes
when I recruit gang members and start a war. This is the only time the game
ever crashes for me. Sometimes the game will also freeze up for about 10
seconds and then resume. No idea what the hell's going on there.
Well, tell me some bugs you've encountered. Oh sometimes I see cars sunk
into the pavement, but I remember seeing that on the PS2 version as well, so
it doesn't scare me too much. But are there any serious game ruiners in the
PC version? Anyone finished the PC version 100% yet? I have version 2.00 by
the way.

My experience was practically bug free. I think the sounds disappeared
just once in all the hours I've played. I actually had a lot more
problems with Vice City on my PC, at some point I could only play a
few minutes, then it would freeze, and I'd have to go to the desktop
to click OK on a stupid window saying the VPU crashed... Lots of
fiddling with drivers finally cured it.
One silly graphics thing is that lots of cars are dirty and they stay
dirty even if you repaint them... This was supposedly fixed in the
patch.

I guess the taxi glitch is the biggest one, sometimes no passengers
spawn and you can't do them. As I recall, this usually happens if you
try to do the taxi missions late in the game. Didn't happen to me,
though, and taxi missions was one of the last things I did for 100%.

In over a year? What do you think? It's not that hard, just lots of
things to do.

I've only played the original.

Weird, Vice City was 100% bug free for me, kind of the opposite of what
you've been through. I don't think the original is available anymore. I do
have the orginal for PS2, but... don't like GTA games on consoles, I've been
playing PC games for so long my gamepad skills have gone to sh.t.

Oh, my problems were system problems, not indicating any bugs in Vice
City. It was great once I got the problem sorted out.

Where did U find it?

In the store...? It's called "Second Edition". I assume that means they
removed all the sexual mini-game content that was used to form the Hot
Coffee mod. Unfortunately. Can't figure why this is bad when the game is
full of foul language and extreme violence. Apparently, it is okay to kill
people, but it's not okay to f.ck them... oh well.

The big problem here wasn't the actual content, it's the fact that
Rockstar left them on the disk and then blammed modders for putting
them in and mofifying the game when, in fact, the Hot Coffee mini-game
only need some code to activate it. The graphic sets, sounds and
girlfriend interiors were all still there to begin with.
I remember a similar(ish) thing with the original Resident Evil which
had Chris Redfield smoking in the intro movie. The ratings people
didn't like tobacco advertising in games, so they took that part out.
They didn't seem to mind the gore or people being eviscerated by
monsters for some reason.
There are quite a few changes to the second edition SA. I remember
seeing a guide somewhere which lists them all, but off the top of my
head:
1. Las Venturas' unmarked Pay'n'Spray has been deactivated.
2. The unmarked Cluckin' Bell in Los Santos (Market, I believe) now has
a map icon.
3. Hot Coffee totally taken out.
4. Some text to the missions was changed, I can't remember specifically
which ones, but it's so minor it doesn't matter.
5. The basketball glitch was supposed to have been fixed.
Cheers,
Rob
