I recently saw some pictures of a series of "interesting" airports, and
Tioman Island, off the Malaysian coast was one. I thought I'd see how FS-9
showed it. bwahahahahahahahaha... Oh well.... But, it is a fun place,
especially in something fast, as shown here:

Take off Singapore, head north towards VOR 114.0, which is located on
another small island just n/w of Tioman, but as you pass the big island to
your right, you'll see the strip - just proceed out to the VOR, take a right
back to Tioman, and hug the right side of the island (since you'll be below
the hills :), and turn into it.. Have no idea how it appears in FSX, but it
has runways 3/21, 3255' long, 15' agl.

Hey, Don, I'd love to take pics of this in FSX to show you, but you've
come up across on a bit of navigation that I haven't even started to
broach. I rely heavily on GPS so I really don't know much about using
VORs for navigation. It seems that this is a bit of a complicated
subject to deal with in the ng, but if you have a good site on how to
learn to do this, I'd love to hear it.

Just take off Singapore, head directly north ~60 miles, your GPS should show
Tioman by then. Probably a half dozen smaller islands in between, but
you'll notice Tioman, and the strip is on the northern end, or north western
side in FS-9.

I found it and took pictures. Here they are:

It doesn't look a lot different than FS9, although the airstrip appears
to be 20/02. Landing at 02 looks like it would be tough, but 20 is
pretty easy.

If you go to the site here it will point you to some good freeware stuff
for Malaysia including Tioman. Much better than the default thats for
sure. The site is very valuable for finding free world scenery!
