It's possible it's an old FS98 gauge in a no longer supported format.
I've run into that recently on some a/c I'm working with. If you have
FS Panel Studio you can open the gauge and see what vintage it is.

I'm not familiar with that .gau file, Bernie. But you could try
editing the panel.cfg and replacing the existing gps gauge entry with
the gps entry from any of the fs9 default aircraft.

Yes, that seems a good idea. I had a look in properties after Brett's
post and it is a Microsoft gauge from FS2002! It is , as Brett thought,
an older gauge and is probably not a goer in FS9. I'll try to put the
default one in.

At least it wasn't FS98 <G>. Just use one of the FS9 ones and you'll
be fine.
