Any reason why I should not install SP3 for Windows XP Home? What are the
experiences in general?

Hi Loek,

This question was posted a few weeks ago and I don't think anyone had
any issues with it.  I have it installed too but as I had my Windows
installation well updated there probably was very little new added
with the SP.

Thanks Ibby,

So it was posted before? Missed that one then being away from the compu for
a couple of weeks. I'll see if I can find it.
Thanks anyway.

It blew right past me too, because this is the first I heard of SP3.

Geez!! I used to be on top of things like this.

Why is it Microsoft hasn't notified its users the normal way? I got a
notification when SP2 came along.

I have an AMD processor and could not install AP3  i.e. on reboot I got the
black screen with white letering and the count down screen.
I could not get into SAFEMODE and had to ghost back to SP2.  The microsoft
tech can't help me   I've use the utility to chech the registry which says I
can install SP3  but I keep geting the black screen with white lettering and
the countdown times.

Any help or suggestions?

thanks,

Microsoft have just RE-RE-RE-released Service Pack 3 for XP
(yes, the 4th time) and I've just downloaded it for testing.

The last time I installed (3rd revision) I uninstalled very quickly,
as it messed up my network connections on 2 seperate computers.

Hopefully this time it's right.

If I don't forget :-) I will give it a try tomorrow.
I tested it today on another (not mine!!) computer and it all seemed fine.
And you still have the possibility to uninstall...??
