At 55% ... level 69, 62, and 60 ...

I beat the game.

And I'm *very* disappointed!

First and foremost, Vegnagun was *WEAK*.  I'm really surprised as to how
weak his attacks were!

And Shuyin was a real pushover.  The Terror of Zanarkand attack was pretty
cool, but all in all, there was never a need for any panic.

I like how Auron and Jecht's voices are 'coaching' you along.  Too bad you
don't get to see them (or do you?)

The "reunion" with Tidus was pretty lame, and the last FMV wasn't anything
to shake a stick at.

There's a LOT of unresolved questions that I guess you have to get closer to
100% to get answered...

Like in Sphere 8, Why did Nooj shoot Gippal and Balari?  What was that all
about?

I guess I'll have to go through the game again, make sure to visit all the
places in all the chapters.

Thoughts on the ending???

Visit the Den of Woe when you have all ten spheres. It's optional, but
it fills in a lot of the gaps in the plot.

I'm pretty sure that was Nooj, Baralai, and Gippal.  Nooj sounds a lot like
Auron though.

The ending was generally dumb, but then the main plot line was also kind of
dumb.  I was more interested in the many subplots than the main storyline.

It was to keep the spirit of Shuyin from possessing them. If i remember
correctly that plan failed so they had to go with Yuna's plan.

The only spot where Auron and Jecht are present are in chapter 5 when
they meet up with Maechen(sp?) at Zanarkand. All the chit-chat on those
crimson spheres are Noojie-Woojie, Baralai and the guy Rikku has/had a
crush on (Gippal).

I think it's the same reason why Shuyin killed all the other Crimson
Squad members: So they wouldn't become a threat to him and Vegnagun.

Yeah, for Auron and Jecht to be doing the talking makes no sense plot wise
or anywise.

Yeah, something like that.  Basically, Shuyin was evil, and was in control
of Nooj.

At the end of the game, Auron and Jecht are guiding Yuna by talking to her.
Listen carefully.

I also thoght it was Auron and Jecht.  Are there any parts of the game
where Auron and Jecht DO speak?  They're listed in the credits.

I think there was a flashback during one of the storylines.

Are you sure...?  Because when you go to New Game Plus, and check out
Shinra's Dossiers, Jecht, Auron, and Yuna's dad are all listed there.

Yeah, they appear in a flashback.  Actually during their dossiers may be
when they speak.  I know most of the characters in the dossiers speak.
Anyway, if you listen to the old man speak all the way through each time he
shows up and let him shake your hand, he will appear in Chapter 5 in
Zanarkand.  I think he mentions something about how he once met Yuna's dad
or something and there is a short scene of the three of them sitting around
the fire similar to where the gang sat by the fire in FFX1

Despite what others have said in this thread you are right that it was Auron
and Jecht and I liked it too. One of Auron's lines when fighting Shuyin, I
think it was "get that crybaby," was funny since it could have been discribing
Tidus as well. There's also a cool scene in Zanarkand chapter 5 where you find
out the truth of the old historian and you get to see them. It wasn't something
I got until the second or third time through.

After playing the game the first time through I said I liked it since it
respected X's ending. Obviously I didn't get that ending yet and yes it was
dumb

You should play again at one point and get all the crimson spheres that cave is
one of the cooler parts of the game IMO and answers that and all questions.

The normal ending sucked. The good and perfect endings made it go from bad to

Why?  I thought the perfect ending was pretty good.  I hate it when the main
character dies after acomplishing so much. Bringing him back made a happier
ending all around.  That's why I hated the ending to the movie Gladiator.
It would have been better if he hadn't of died.

Exactly.  The whole point of FFX's ending was that Tidus did all that
fighting to save the world from Sin, despite knowing that it would cause
him to cease to exist.  Having Tidus return in FFX-2 doesn't reflect poorly
on FFX-2, but it makes everything FFX was about seem like a joke.

Not to mention everything in FFX-2.  There was this huge underlying message
in the game that "Memories are nice, but you can't let yourself be held back
for them".  Or something to that effect.  Basically yeah, it's nice to
remember, but you have to move on sometimes and live your life.  Yuna
finally realizes this and seems to have gotten over Tidus then bam, hi,
there he is, sorry, guess the message was pointless.

I can't agree or disagree with this, because I have not so much as even
considered buying or renting the game.  However, I agree with the
principle.  When part one is about sacrifice and loss and getting on with
your life and stuff, and part two comes out and says that on the surface
but then goes and says "Hey look, everything we've been saying for almost 2
entire games is crap", it reflects poorly on the entire series.

I think one of the underlying themes of X-2 was "hope."  Despite
everyone giving Yuna the impression "memories are nice, but you need
to eventually move on," she never did give up.

Besides, anyone who didn't want Tidus to return at the end of X-2 are
DEAD INSIDE.

Tidus returning at the end of FFX-2 makes everything about FFX a complete
joke.  Since FFX wasn't about having 3 girls dress in scantily clad
clothing and sing and dance theire enemies to death, which game do you
think carries more merit?  FFX-2 takes a great story as a foundation and
ruins everything about it.

I think it was only fair that Tidus was allowed to return.  There was
no self-sacrifice in FFX, the guy was doomed from the get-go.

Anyways if you didn't want Tidus to return, you should've answered
"no" on the farplane when you were asked. ;)  Some of us need closure,

FFX had closure.  FFX-2 eliminated that closure.  No sacrifice in FFX?
From the time you hit Zanarkand in FFX Tidus knows he will disappear if
they succeed.  He has every choice to /not/ defeat Yu Yevon and Sin and
remain around as long as he wants.  He chooses to defeat Yu Yevon at the
end, knowing that it will be the end of him.  He says something like:
Listen up everyone.  This is the last time we fight together.  <everyone
acts shocked> After we win, I'll disappear. (him and Yuna look at each
other, because previously she said "You aren't going to disappear on me
when we defeat Sin, are you?").

That is closure.  Tidus knew victory meant the end.  And he did it anyway.
With FFX-2, the end means nothing.

Not really.  That all still happens in the story.  You just get a little
happy bonus of him returning.  Why is it that some people think that what
one does in a story has to have a deep profound meaning?  Why can't they say
"this is how it happenend, great."

I agree, I beat it a while back at 58%, meaning almost 50% of the game
is optional.

can I get a 50% discount.

Optional trips, missions, etc. are okay, but that's a lot to mess with,
in my opinion.

I probably will not play it again.
