Mojaddadi: Iran best friend, neighbor of Afghanistan
27. December 2005, 23:19
IRNA - Iran is the best friend and neighbor of Afghanistan, Afghan
Senate Speaker Sebghatollah Mojaddadi told Iran's Foreign Minister
Manouchehr Mottaki here on Tuesday.
Mojaddadi said Iranian brothers have paid their due share of
brotherhood, friendship and neighborliness over the past few years, which
cannot be forgotten.
Mottaki said Iran's attaches high significance to parliamentary
relations with Afghanistan.
Over the past years, Iran has hosted more than two million Afghan
refugees, issuing 500,000 visas for them, said Mottaki.
Tehran does not consider its ties with Kabul to be against a third
state and its domestic interests, he added.
Iran, the minister noted, paid dlrs 568 million to Afghan government
over the past four years in a bid to have a share in the country's
reconstruction, said Mottaki.
"We expect Afghan government to lift barriers to the activities of
Iranian companies and entrepreneurs and provide necessary facilities for
them," he added.
Whatever Iranian media wrote in the course of the past 28 years were
in favor of Afghans, said Mottaki, adding Afghan media are expected to avoid
publishing anti-Iran articles.
A member of Majlis presiding board Moussa Qorbani, also present at the
meeting, voiced Iran's readiness to share experience and have cooperation
with the newly established Afghan National Council.
Mottaki left Kabul for Tehran on Tuesday evening after a two-day visit
and talks with Afghan president Hamid Karzai, his counterpart Abdullah
Abdullah and speakers of both houses of Afghan legislature.

Should we invade Iran after we're done in Iraq?

"should we"? Isn't this already planned? Axis of evil and all that.

I was reading about how Bush is passing time at his Ranch (built in December
1999 btw), among other things, "clearing brush." I suppose he's worried
about those brush fires over in Arlington. But my thought was that if Saddam
Hussein had put on a cowboy hat and cleared some brush around one of his
palaces, Bush probably would have run over to help him instead of invading.
There is no rhyme or reason as to whom Bush condemns as a tyrant and whom he
embraces as an ally. Saudi Arabia allows a token and meaningless election
and they are the good guys? Hussein allowed elections in Iraq you know. Of
course, he alway got 100% of the vote. Not quite as good as Bush did in
Wyandot county Ohio where he got 125% of the vote.
