What do you guys think is the best Fantasy Game..

I think FF7 had the best story line and then FF8 had the best graphics...
but I would have to say the best FF game that I have played to date is FFX .

What do you guys think

I liked FFVI and FFVIII about the same. FFVIII graphics were good for PS1
standards, but wasn't FFIX's graphics better? I never played FFIX, but from
a few screen shots the graphics looked smoother.

I think the FFIX graphics were much better than FFVIII.  The character
models were much more expressive with their body language, for one thing.

FF VIII is the best fantasy game on the PS for me and I also played FF
VI,VII and IX.
On the PS2 FFX and FFX-2 are ALMOST equal though the X has a better
story but I liked X-2s ending(the exteneded end) a bit more.I really
like the X-2s song '1000 words'.

I agree.

Say what?? Even the graphics is bad in FFX-2. I could see through the walls.
Not to talk about the crappy music, the mission based BS, the episode
complete shite, the 100% nightmare, the wistles to get the perfect ending,
the monkeys mating, the irritating commspheres, the... blah.

Take a look at X-2 graphics(faces, suroundings) and then compare it to
X.For example intro movie in FF X has a lot worse graphics than the
EXT.ending in X-2(Tidus and Yuna in Zanarkand, when she pushes him into
the water) and this is a good example 'cause both movies are in the same
location.
Also one more thing.Nobody forced you to play the game for 100% and
though it is a bit long it's worth it.If not for the satisfaction of
playing it 100% than for that ext.ending movie.

Well, I don't know about you, but when I played FFX the first time I was
excited by the way the game was introducing us into a movie. The mix of
gameplay and FMVs to me was just wonderful. Then, talking about the graphis
when playing, I repeat I could see through the walls in some dungeons. Also
in Le Blanc house there is a graphic glitch that shows the "hidden" switch.

Which is the point indeed. Let me put in this way: I know many people love
FFX-2, so I am not going to argue. But the two games are not comparable.
They have two completely different gameplay. I just found very irritating
that to reach 100% I had to follow step by step the walkthrough.

You got me wrong. I,too like FFX more in the terms of
story,gameplay,etc. but as I said I like FFX-2s ending more 'cause it's
a happy one(Tidus and Yuna are back together,Wakka and Lulu are married
and have a son Vidina,Kimahri guides the Ronso...).
I also never said that X has bad graphics(when it was released that was
  a small revolution on PS2) I only said that X-2 has better.My X-2
never had any glithces.
See ya!

I don't know why, but I really didn't like that game. Maybe because it has
been the first that I played in Italian instead of English. I found it
pretty childish as well (my 8 years old nephew loves it indeed...).

Fine, I'll enter this one.

The best on the PSX, storyline weise, would be VII, then VIII.  The best
graphics is definatly IX.  They could have done a better job at character
designe, though.

The best overall is definatly FFVI.  Hands down, no question about
it......by far.

Agreed (Seeing cutscene Kefka on PSX was a tears-in-eyes moment (He was
just like I guessed by the SNES sprite ^_^) Don't know why cutscene
Terra had blonde hair, though...

I think I'll put in a mention for FFV. This one definately had the best
soundtrack (Gilgamesh's theme - yay!!!) - I downloaded a SPC player just
so I could add this to my playlist.
For plot, though, it's FFVII or FFVI (I quite liked VIII except for the
first half of disc 2 - boooooring)

FF-X did it for me. I liked the religious under, and overtones of the
story. Also liked LuLu's whatchamacallits, nicer than Tifa's.

It's a toss-up between FFVII and FFVIII. It propbably would be FFVIII,
but I though disc 2 just yawned it's way through... However, all the
stuff on disc 3 (Eshar, the Pandora etc.) made up for it.

For graphics, I'd have to say FFIX. Athough FFVIII tried to be
'realistic', I think it tried too much for the hardware, making the
models a bit indistict and blocky. FFIX used chunkier character models,
which matched the PSX's graphics capabilities much better, giving a
nicer look. I also really liked the style of drawing on FFIX - it was
good to see Yoshitaka Amano taking the lead again ^_^

Should be interesting to see how they try to out do 3 cities and 12 small towns
in a game; I just wish that San Andreas was being released on the x-box too
right from the get go. Playing GTAVC on the x-box with final fantasy songs was
fun.

Well they've remade Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas.  I guess that
leaves GTA London (Though The Getaway is more or less this).  Or better yet,
GTA England.  A WHOLE COUNTRY.  Ten then can move on the GTA USA, with and
even BIGGER country.  Finally in maybe 10 years we'll get GTA: World, with
like 50000 vehicles to choose from and an entire planet to rampage cross.  I
guess we'd have to move into space next.

This is my first time posting in a group.  Nice group you have, didn't
expect to find one.

May Contain spoliers to those who haven't played FF7,FF8, FF10, FF10-2
and...be warned of randomness.

To Say the least. Final Fantasy 8 was not all that bad in storyline, it
was greatly mysterious and good gameplay till Edea was instead just
being possessed by some future sorceress.

I think it revolves too much around Rinoa, and she does nothing great.
Nothing at all. She reminds me alot of Aerith, who alot of
people...think is so great when infact she did nothing at all but pray
and then die.

I Also believe she (Rinoa) whines far too much, the storyline could have
been better if square had took the time to make it much deeper. Non the
less it's not that bad.

The Ending boss battles are lamely easy, and not even a challenge. You
would think with your Aeons...oops I mean GFs being taken from you.
Exspecially Cerberus that your doomed, but it's just so darn easy.

The Hardest boss battle of the whole game is Adel, and that's only
because you have to...again annoyingly save the helpless Rinoa without
hurting her and then concerntrate on healing her as well with hopes Adel
doesn't take the time to steal hp from her.

Sometimes I believe it was just an excuse to bring some cool looking
characters into play, who had cool attitudes in order to make some quick
cash.

You can't complain so much about the graphics considering it was for the
original playstation, I was pretty amazed at the graphics for the movie
scenes, and even thought it was pretty good otherwise out of those
scenes.

Rinoa: Squall! SAVE ME! My Socks are eating my feet!

Squall: I've never felt this way...I"M COMING FOR YOU!

(Coughs)

(FFX and FFX-2 make up for graphics later on anyway)

Final Fantasy 7, I'm sure everyone agrees is the best FF for original
playstation ever, the storyline is very hooked and as it goes on, it
becomes more and more complicated and soon your confused not sure what's
really happening.
Heck I'm still not sure if the Sephiroth you must fight at the end in
five million diffrent forms, is the real him or a clone.

I was very disappointed when I didn't get to have an all out fight with
Sephiroth, and I mean the Sephiroth who is truely powerful. It was
disappointing just using Cloud's last limit break to finish him off. But
the rest of the game makes up for it.

Truely it is a great game, there were not enough graphic movies in my
opinion. and I enjoyed the characters looking like little three inch
fairies, it was amusing.

Something I do not understand, Why are Cloud and Aeris looked at as such
great characters?

I just don't see a reason to like either one.

Aeris, is very needy, even ignorant towards Tifa, and quite rude in the
competition for Cloud. and She's not very comforting of other people's
emotions, she's the type to tell you cheer up because she doesn't want
to hear about it but when it comes to her I'm sure she'd resent you for
not listening.

Sure she does nice things, but otherwise...I just can't see any good in
her.

Or prehaps that just me.

Clone 12: Must...Kill...Aeris...Again...Killll...

And Cloud...In the end he's just some...deluded idiot. Not that its bad
being a idiot, but I just don't understand all the hype of his
character, he's from what we seen a clone of Sephiroth in a way.

He's strange and delusional as Sephiroth is, only less cool.

Even though he did kill Sephiroth...which that's never fully explaind to
how he did it. He's still just some guy...that everyone hypes up to
being some great warrior character.  and I think Vincent is greater. His
story is better, sad and it's strangely too short a story.

...you know Vincent and Auron seem rather simlar when compared.

That's the end of that.

Cloud: Oh Whoa me, I'm a loser. I'm a clone. I suck. I wasn't really
solider 1st class.

Wonder if Aeris would still want me.

Even though...I got this hot kind babe hanging off my arm, I want a dead
girl who was self centered.

Tifa: ...I'm cool yet here I am. Telling him we'll go find Aeris and
square makes me love him still. Is Vincent avaliable?

We can laugh at Luceria and Cloud for being idiots, together.

Cloud: Huh?

Tifa: Nothing my love. Let's go find that dead girl.

In words to everyone talking of FFX and FFX-2.

I find it extremely funny how anyone could say FFX-2's and FFX's
graphics...were not that good and could have been better.

I was amazed at FFX-2's graphics, because in my opinion in movies they
almost looked real. It was quite scary...made me wish Auron had been in
it. Darn Square for taking him away from us.

The graphics were simply awesome.

The Storyline couldn't have been better, I think the whole game was of
course directed towards a younger audience and made to satisfy fans who
really wanted Yuna to have her Tidus again.

I am impressed they were able to come up with a solid storyline for a
sequeal, even though...still their are plotholes like FFX.

The Sphere hunting missions and finding out what happened to all the
characters in the first game, is alot of fun. Monkey mating season weee!

and...all that hardness just to get the Gippal sphere. (grumbles)

The new characters make the story fuller too.

..Yuna in FFX-2 is...so freaking wishy washy, I wish to strangle her
worse then I am sorry Yuna, you know how she says Sorry about five
hundred times in FFX

Anyway, the happy upbeat tune it has about letting things go is also
refreshing from how depressing FFX can get.

Come on, who didn't feel like crying when watching Operation Mi'hen?

Or when Rikku had a break down and said had Yuna would die? and Whiney
Tidus always saying how'd he find a way to save her

Again...maybe that is just me lol.

But FFX-2 kinda makes up for it, gives it a refreshing twist, sin's gone
and look what everyones doing now. ...Why couldn't Shelinda have died?
And Clasko? Why? and Elma. (Coughs) I just depise those characters.

---

FFX, for any playstation console. Is the Best FF ever. At least so in my
opinion. But for decided on Original PS, It's deffinity FF7.

..and I just realised how long I rambled. Excuse my rambleness. and Uh
Nice Group you all have.

Me and my sister have a theory that Seph (except in the flashback at
Kalm) is actually Jenova, (Gast's video diary mentions the fact that
Jenova took on the forms of the dead when it wiped out the Cetra - a bit
like the First Evil on Buffy), and Seph really did die at Nibelheim.

IMHO the FFX cutscenes were better (Yuna looked weird in X-2). They did
a much better job of making the cutscenes and the in-game blend better,
though.
Personally I hate FFX-2 (that might have something to do with the above
comment, but I don't think so). The music was terrible (where's Nobuo
Uematsu when you need him), the endless side-quests detracted from the
core plot, and the final boss was a JOKE! (I thought Jecht was easy...)

Sephiroth isn't Jenova, but he is controlled by Jenova (a "puppet", like
Cloud, although Cloud is strong enough to break this control eventually),
and gets his power from Jenova.

> FFX, for any playstation console. Is the Best FF ever.

I agree! It is fab. And I agree about your observations on FF7 too.
Best 'Overall story and premise' would be FF7 on the PS1, best
overall overall would be FFX.

The thing that's grating on me with FF7 is that it could have been so
much better, but it feels unfinished and a tad empty.

There isn't much weight... the dialogue and exposition is laughable
and the way the story is told is very brief and in your face!

I'm quite amazed about how much volume was put in FFX-2
with it's simple story, but how little volume there is in FF7 with its
story - if you get me?

And the graphics in FFX-2 are amazing! FFX was jaggy and the
'regular' character models and lip sync was questionable.
.x. Sorrow .x. Student Of Auron - 28 Aug 2004 18:44 GMT
You know...I may have to agree with that theory. That has to be the best
one I have heard to date about Sephiroth, I kept thinking it was still
just a clone of him.

But where Cloud gives him meteor in the game, it looks like Sephiroth
perserved, So I still question it.

What you say could very well be true. I never thought of that, I mean
Jenovah does just escape the containment unit thingy with the supposed
help of Sephiroth. Prehaps It felt a presence in Cloud when he came near
the tank, you know...being Cloud has extreme number of Jenovah cells in
him from being experminted on. And Somehow Revived it into Life?

Or It had been planning it's escape the entire time and decided to use
Cloud as it Guinea pig to get what it wanted..then again how did it know
all that stuff about Nibelhem? o_o; Even Tifa.

Too bad Square won't fess up with it's secrets.

Yuna I admit does look weird in FFX-2. But  So Does Rikku, but
considering they are supposed to be more grown up in two years, it's to
be expected. ..But You know. The scenes where they talk all the
time...Yuna looks younger. o_o;
So it almost defeats the purpose.

I think they tryed making them more realistic, and honestly they did an
incredible job of it.

You mean the ending Boss Vegenagun? Heh Yeahhhhhh, he is ...very easy
~~; Oo; The battle in the Den of Woe seems ten times harder. Only
Challenge of the ending boss is, beat it before Shuyin speaks seven
times.

I think the reason Jecht is so easy is because Tidus can talk to him...
and make him lose his overdrive. Jecht was extremely hard for me the
first time because I decided not to max out my stats, and to keep my
characters are average levels. He whooped my a.s twice before i got past
him.

Yu Yevon is a laugh too. And Defeating all the Aeons. Magus sisters were
the only ones to put up a fight against me.

The Hardest boss battles of the game are in the Monster Arena...and If
You figure out on your a way to max out your stats. (WEEE ONE-EYE)
(Takes time and patience) Their a laugh too.

Great storyline, great gameplay...But
Theres so many things you can do to make it easy. So It depends on you
and what you do really.

Farewell,

Gah I Can't Copy and paste like you guys. ^^;

I Apologise.

This is in Reply to Sickamongthecure.

Heh Yes I had the unfinished feeling after beating FF7, I expected alot
more then there was...I almost  threw the controller at the screen. I
Can't believe they ended it like that, I was even more mad when I waited
five bazillion hours just to see if there was anything else after
credits...and ended up with Nanaki running with his cubs...and by the
way If he's the last of his race? HOW DID THAT HAPPEN!?

Anyway because of the way they made the ending...and alot of us fans
being mad about it, that's the reason for Advent Children!

Is It out yet by the way? I have no clue.

I'm getting a little itchy waiting for it, I can understand FFX's
sequeal. Because they didn't know a life without sin, so of course i
understand all the fun bunches of stuff.

I Hope they didn't make FF7's sequeal like that... I think that's what
it is, a sequeal.

To make it remotely full of white running moogles and happiness...would
well I'd have to hire a hitman to have everyone at square killed.
Hopefully Advent Children satisfies us of those who were left with the
unfinished feeling. I think it would have been better if they just
worked on a game instead of a movie...but hey can't Complain. At least
we get to see what happened after Holy was called! WEEE

Does anyone know anything about Advent Children? Any News Updates?

Farewell,

Sorrow~

Sephiroth isn't the real enemy, Jenova is.  Sephiroth is weak without
Jenova, and you've already defeated Jenova before that battle.
