Hello, finally got myself a PS2. I'm a FF fan so am interested in FF XI/online.
I have a load of questions if anyone can help.

1. If I buy a used FFXI can I use the CD to play online or is the code "used
up" when first used, or does it even have a code? Basically can I buy used game
and play online?

2. Is there a standalone game on the CD or Online only?

3. Is there a monthly fee to play online?

4. The Game/Harddrive package, is it necessary? I take it you can install the
game direct to the harddrive to play faster? How does it work? Can you use
another hard drive instead of the one in the "package", it looks like a
standard PC hard drive, if you format using the PS2 software will another HD
work?

5. What can you tell me abou the game? :)

6. If the game does indeed install to the HD do you need the game CD to play
(You don't for other online games)?

Thanks,
Tom

You would have to buy there account off them also as the game is
coded, the best option is the FFXI and harddrive bundle new.

online multiplayer only

> 3. Is there a monthly fee to play online?

Yes, as with all high profile MMORPG's

You need the harddrive yes, and the PS2 one yes.

nothing.

haven't a clue, I've got reason to believe that the bundle dosen't
come with a CD the game is just pre-installed on the harddrive.

Well, that wouldn't make any sense. If for any reason the copy in the HD
gets corrupted, you MUST have the CD to reinstall it.

1. If I buy a used FFXI can I use the CD to play online or is the code "used
up" when first used, or does it even have a code? Basically can I buy used
game
and play online?

-----the CD code is on the HDD no worries there.

2. Is there a standalone game on the CD or Online only?

-----online only

3. Is there a monthly fee to play online?

-----$12.97 for the Playonline account and 1 FFXI character and $1 per
character after and about $1 for the tetramaster account.

4. The Game/Harddrive package, is it necessary? I take it you can install
the
game direct to the harddrive to play faster? How does it work? Can you use
another hard drive instead of the one in the "package", it looks like a
standard PC hard drive, if you format using the PS2 software will another HD
work?

-----Ok for FFXI you HAVE to have the HDD no way at looking around it.  But
the game comes preinstalled.  You just have to d/l the updates like
everyother MMO game.  And some games work with the HDD right now...like
RE:Outbreak can be installed to kill load times.  And you cannot format the
PS2 HDD.  If it screws up you had better had bought that service plan at EB
;).  But some other extras of the HDD is the ability to take save games off
your memory card and put them on the HDD.  And when you need them just put
them back on the memory card.

5. What can you tell me about the game? :)

-----To much to tell.....to much to tell.  But if you get it look for me.
(Vasebe, Siren Server) I can answer any questions and the more experience
players of the game will always be open to help.

6. If the game does indeed install to the HD do you need the game CD to play
(You don't for other online games)?

-----No after you set everything up you will never use the CD again.....hell
believe it or not their isn't even a game cd..its just two setup discs.  You
will choose the HDD from your browser menu and select playonline and the
service boots up automatically.
