I've just gotten through setting self-destruct for the vats(After
detonating The Master's nuke) and saved after exiting the base. But when
I set off into the wastes from the base, instead of doing whatever
Fallout normally does upon completion(This is my first play-through, I
foolishly didn't buy it the first time it was ported:-( it does a wierd
slideshow with jumpy wind noises and then freezes solid.

Someone on a.g.f had a similar problem that was solved by running their
savegame under '98 instead of XP, but seeing as I don't own the old
Macintosh version of Fallout(And OS X Fallout is based on a newer
version than System 7 Fallout, so it's savegames probably wouldn't
work;-) then I'm hoping it's something that can be fixed.

Eric,
Buy an old Pentium machine with Win 9x on ebay such as:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2790836257
Have someone from the group send you a Windows Fallout CDs to install on it.
Play out Fallout, then sell it again on ebay.

That's what I'd do.
