Fallout 2: The Corsicans' debt to Mordino

I replayed FO2 recently and headed to New Reno. I took Mordino's quest to
collect the Corsican brothers' debt, but once I talk to the Corsican brother
behind the desk in the studio, all he tells me is, "These slaves are mine,
slaver, watch your eyes." And that's it.......no dialog box pop up,
nothin.........and if I shoot his stupid a.s, he still has no money on
him........

Can I not go beyond this quest if I am a slaver? Or does the patch
alleviate this bug........

I mean really, what point is it to replay the game when the replayed game is
basically........do this thing......if it screws up game........do it
again.........etc........its like i have to follow a preplanned guide for a
different game just to alleviate all of the redundancies!

What's the point of having multiple paths if only one is the "right" one
and the rest dont go anywhere?
It's like Jeff Vogel of Spiderweb Software says - you need to allow for

While that is true, the problem with multiple paths are the path-tree can
grow beyond your wildest imagination in the blink of an eye... BIS did a
fairly good job at something not many have dared at all. It can easily be a
100x as much work and testing, depending on how complicated the crossings
are between paths and for that reason alone most chose to play it safe and
go (almost) linear.

I'm not apologizing for it, I just don't agree making these mistakes, or
more specificly; not having time to correct these mistakes, makes them
incompetent, or 'cockholes' as you put it.
And I beg you try writing an engine and scripting multi-crossing paths
before claiming it to be simple, because if there's anything it's not it's
simple. If that's too much you can try the fallout editor if you have your
doubts...

There are at least TWENTY MILLION game developers who have written
better engines and Fallout barely has "multi-crossing paths" at all
thanks to its "one right path".
