Tackling the Deathclaws in the Boneyard to level up and I was wondering if
it's worth raising skills over 100.

You can get a trainer and do that. It's quite a fun way of getting
some reply out of the game.

I've raised the weapons skills to about 130 to improve longer range and
night  fights.  Still might look like 95 on your target, but the extra
'skill' compensates for range and darkness.

Any tagged skill is easy to get over 100 and have enough points to round
up important 'social skills' like lock picking and sneak.....  I've
heard of other's uber characters that go to 200 or more, but never gone
there.

Another here suggested a trainer.  Keep some saves, and experiment with
stats on your next replay.

Having some skills over 100 can really help in some instances.  Ie, if
you've got a sniper rifle, the extra skill points do help with
increased range and effectiveness.  I'd consider raising your primary
weapon skill over 100 at least.  If you can't take out a super mutant
wearing power armor in one shot, then there's still room for
improvement :-)
