Lots of people are still lurking. Fallout and Fallout 2 have pretty well been
played out by most of us (and one or two times through BOS), so what's left to
discuss until Fallout 3 gets near release?

Let's discuss FO3 plots again.
The end of FO2 is too peaceful. I suggest the NCR gets attacked by
another superpower coming from Mexico or down from Canada and all sorts
of sh.t gets blown up and all the proper troops blow the f.ck out of
each other on the front lines leaving few to keep order back home.

Oooh.. make the RCMP into a major in game power... along the lines of the
Brother Hood of Steel... you could call the game GRC.

have to wave goodbye to that, or let it be ruined by a company that is being

Well, maybe there is a *little* hope:

This thread from NMA and the forum still leaves the possibility that it will be
completed...

JE leaving was a big blow for all of us on the project, no way around it.
However, the stuff he was working on, the technical side of the project (rules,
interfaces, etc.), is nearly complete (I think there are only two more
interfaces that need to be done, and they are simple ones). Josh made sure that
part, the part he was responsible for, was done by the time he left, and I think
that is a huge example of his integrity and his passion for doing a great job.

The story and areas for VB have been finished for a few months now, so his input
has been received and applied. We are currently building maps and writing
dialogues. Sean Reynolds has been creative lead almost since MCA left and has
been doing a very fine job of making sure we knows hwo ta write good.

On a personal note, I have really enjoyed working with Josh, and have been very
impressed watching him grow into a great lead designer. He is a person who
learns from his triumphs and mistakes and grows from those lessons - and in this
industry, that's almost impossible to find. He knows when to step in and when to
step back, and knows how to empower his employees. He brings a lot to BIS and
will be sorely missed. I wish him good luck in his future venture (no, it's not
Obsidian) and I know he will develop great things when he gets there.

And VB keeps on chugging along...

The melodrama never ends.

That's not a comment on whether FO3 will be good or bad, just on the
fans who talk about it.

To one and all.

Well the drama keeps us circling back to a.g.fallout.  How long we dwell
on the story is optional.  Attention spans vary.

Do you have any gaming suggestions that would enhance our mutual
appreciation of RPG's?

Expect renewed interest in Win titles after long lotus-eating spell in
the Mac cocoon.

Clash and crash of critical updates.  Right now I'm fighting an
abandoned XP system, plug pulled pre MSblast.  No see-able hardware
conflict.  Slash and burn strategy on adware and cookies to ferret out
trojans was too drastic.  Looks like time for a f disk and a clean
install.

New or old. Love to rummage in the bargain bins, so what brave new
apocalypses would you offer for our attention?

I might have overdone it a little... But seriously though, when you give a
completely and entirely new team a job to remake a game in the spirit of the
old, undisireable changes always happens and often they ruin everything...
We've come to expect a lot, a good game must continue to be good... And it
would have been easier if interplay had been full of cash, so it's hard not
to be sceptical about the future.

Reasonably put. But, as someone else posted, Josh pretty much finished
his part of the game before leaving BIS, so it's not so much a sign
about VB. About BIS, sure.

I would hesitate to agree that new times often ruin everything, or that
undesirable changes always happen, however. They certainly do happen,
but I can only think of a few cases where this is actually true.

And I can't think of any where it isn't... (might be because I'm a
half-empty kind of person)
Some of my most favorite games too:
fallout FOT and FOBOS...
xcom (aftermath)...
monkey island and a long string of other lucas arts games...
and probably a dozen more.

It's obviously tougher when games like these, as the original games have
Huge fan groups, demands great quality. But it is really quite rarely filled
when the teams have changed entirely...
Heck, it's not even too often the sequels turn out good even when the
developers haven't changed...
Mostly it's just a question of funding... The best games are often funded
independently, but they need producers' extra cash to handle packing and
distribution. Completing the first game, which often does well, they are
then taken under their wing and paid a regular salary, usually with tiny
teams, and yet expected to deliver in very short time. After this it's a
do-or die business... and mostly it's just die...
With people quitting left and right BIS is dying, and their games with
them...
Personally I think the BIS division would be better off, sold off. Not
better for interplay though.

At the moment, since Lionhart came out, which got some decent hype but
didn't really deliver in my opinion, I'm almost looking more forward to
whatever Brian Fargo can do with the wasteland license than to fallout3,
sadly...

but hey... don't let me such a spoilsport, it may yet turn out well, maybe
we should stay positive eh... A possible FO3 demo in the works, yay.

It's not too late, you can still go months without another post.

Hey baby don't I know you from a rape group? Or maybe it's one of those
