I've played all three Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout BOS when they were first released. And I don't think that FO3 will be anywhere near what the original Fallout's were. I think what we'll see is a Elder Scrolls with technological weapons. I've also played Elder Scrolls plus the expansions and Pirates of the Carribean and enjoyed them both,well except BloodMoon which I thought was dumb. However, Pirates was employed pretty much the same as Elder Scrolls. One thing you have to remember is that Black Isle did the original development in the original Fallout, and they are no more. If FO3 is anything like > Elder Scrolls I won't be buying it. If Bethesda chooses to limit FO3-B to Elder Scrolls' design, then they will be limiting their potential sales to that niche market. I have no -recent- experience with the first person fantasy format, never have played a Bethesda title (that I know of). I've no idea of what Bethesda deems "role playing" to be, outside what I recall role playing was in the fantasy games I have played. I've no conscious wish to replay these types of fantasy rpg games. If Bethesda plays it safe and dresses their fantasy format with post apocolytic rags, then I'll have to wait. After the -professional- reviewers, the real gamers will be posting their opinions, I can wait, and by then a mediocre product will be half priced or in the bargain bin ... bugs and all. Please, none of this, we must support 'company X' stuff, none of this holding FO hostage, it's an obvious threat, akin to extortion, that was tryed with FO:BOS. And there were better Snowblind Engined console games to choose from such as BG:DA, and C of N, then to have considered FO:BOS. Yep get it from the bargain bin and then if you feel it's worth $60 after playing it send them the money. I doubt anyone would. Is it just me or are video games the only form of entertainment that drops in price by 95% after a few years? If one shops effectively, some titles become 33% off or half price "loss leaders" a momnth or so after publishing. If I must pay full for a title then places like Media Play kick back coupons as a percentage of total purchases. If you pay to play their "buyer's club membership". Consoles are established enough that 'used titles' are worth considering for the price advantage, and there are 'sale' times too, to clear out the shelves. FOT and FO:BOS are unique entities so their title acronyms are close enough. Still, the best communication is the old school where most acronyms are spelt out at least once. Or once in a while .... I left out the "B"= "Bethesda". To acknowledge Bethesda Software's recent acquisition. During the first blush of the license sale announcement, some comedian was reaching with FO3-'BS' in a thread that was trying "Morrow-out" and "Fall-Scrolls" for size. In a few replys, at these other sites,the convention was to call Interplay's, Black Isle Studios' last effort for FO3 by it's working title "Van Buren", aka VB. Maybe that 'VB' will stick. Unless it's an immediate issue of - which - FO3 tech demo, Interplay's or Troika's is being discussed, I guess the correct and clearest path is to refer to Bethesda's move to PA (Post Apocalyptic) as FO3. 4too >I've played all three Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout BOS when they were first >released. So rather than being angry of full of bliss, I choose to wait and see what they have in stock for it. I like Fallout and The Elder Scrolls. Both are pillars of CRPG but each one in its own corner. While Bethesda would be the least plausible developper for a Fallout 3, that's what will happen anyway. I don't think they are stupid, they should know the Fallout fans are a picky bunch (sometimes more than they should be) and doing a Fallout-Morrowind thing won't be accepted by them. And if it means commercial failure, I don't think they'll take the risk to do something too alien to Fallout. So I just wait for now. Better that way. |
