What level are you fighting at? Eventually master looters may become the
norm--they loot all corpses, split off, and then sell the sellables and
split everything evenly at the end. No doubt some skim, but the majority
are honest.
Until then, don't be shy, straight-out say, "Hey, can you please leave some
mobs for me to loot?" My warrior goes nuts having too manyc orpses around,
it messes with my targeting, so I get antsy if people don't clean up. I'll
all but beg the casters to do some looting, but if they have no initiative
at that point, I'll eventually assume they're not interested.

I have noticed as I am increasing levels with my bard (now 56) that
Master Looters are the norm. I think master looting systems work well
when you are grouping with guild members or players that you play with
on a regular basis. I don't like the master looting system in a pick
up group because I rarely get anything or the split is not fair. I
remember only two times where the ML system in a pick up group worked
out for me. Generally, when I join a pick up group where there is a
master looter I don't expect to get anything....and I'm OK with that.
I like rolling for the drops or looting alphabetically for pick up
groups. Of course, need before greed is always a rule in my groups.

I love having a master looter, except for most pickup groups. Often, in a
group that is camping a particular area, anyone who leaves before the
rest of the group has to request a split right then and there (something
that groups generally don't like to do for whatever reason) to get
anything, and just misses out on items unless the group has been rolling
as they go.

My main is a warrior too. I *prefer* to have the caster do the looting - I
don't want to waste time looting - I wanna whack and hack... but, I can't
stand all the dead bodies laying around. typically, if the caster won't
loot, I /autosplit on, loot everything till I'm full/nearly encumbered, then
loot and destroy...
dead bodies, loot bags, and swords laying around can really screw up
targeting...
