Hi All,
I have got a level 46 Assassin character and seem to be in the situation
where my quest log is full of quests that I can't do. Even the greyed out
ones seem to be impossible to achieve. It seems to me that the level marking
for quests is out by a large factor? A good example is a recent level 43
quest to kill some goblin warriors in Lavastorm. You get there and find
that, yes, they are level 43, but they are heroic! This makes the quest a
non-viable one unless I get a group together.

I don't mind hard quests, but they should either be marked properly at a
level where there is balance or in the case of the above example it should
be marked as heroic.

Its a pain in the a having to look through a full quest log only to find
that despite the alleged level requirements, none of them are achievable!

So, the problem isn't so much that the level designations are off, but that
a player of that level just needs help completing it, is that it? Are you
sure that wasn't the intent from the start?

That is true to a certain extent and I do illicit help on some occasions but
my guild only consists of 16 people which aren't always on. I personally
think that team quests should be marked as heroic and provide better quality
loot than single player quests, but there should be a way to look through
ones log to determine which is which.

I hope you elicit help.  Doing illicit help is frowned upon. :-P

Well, ya know, it's as much a class limitation as a poorly-designed
quest limitation.  A 43 mage could probably un-heroicize those goblins
in short order, for instance...

The problem is IMHO that every quest is some variation on "kill
200 mobs and loot 10 rare drops".  Quests should be class specific.  A
quest given to a rogue should be "Sneak into the Orc Princess' boudoir and
steal her panties.  Return them to me for your ahhh reward".  Not "Kill
100 Vicious Orc Elfslayers and return to me 10 Left Thumbs.  And a moldy
orc head."

When I created my first EQ character, a few months after EQ came out,
I created a rogue, specifically with that sort of play in mind.
Rather than fighting my way in, I would sneak past the guards, steal
the crown jewels (or whatever) and sneak out again.

Hah.

Thats a very good idea! Class specific quests would be pretty cool.

We had gone over to the Sinking Sands by then, alot better xp and you would
be more likely to find a group there too.
I think Steamfont/Lesser Faydark may also be the equivalent.

Thanks. I will take a closer look at the sinking sands. I have spent a
little time there already doing some recce and filling in the map. So I
guess the way forward is to go through my log and methodically ditch the
quests that are either too high or don't give enough reward, then start
getting quests in the sinking sands.

Thanks

Forgot to add you still get xp from completing grey quets, just not
achievement experience.
