I know it happens to quite a few in game, but in some zones, POK, Arcstone,
Temple of Solro, Guild Lobby but not Guild Hall for a few.

When i look due West at a the level vision setting, the screen doesnt pick
up the all graphics. I can see spells particles and flames etc, but the
whole surroundings go AWOL and sort of "blank".

The do re-appear though, if stop looking west.

Any ideas as to how its caused?
How I can stop it?
Or any links to any help forums on the subject?

Thanks

That's the Stairway to Heaven bug.

As mentioned, this is a known bug that's been lurking since DX9 was
implemented. More info can be found on the official EverQuest forums.

With the release of PoR, the bug has become much more prevalent. I had
never experienced it until PoR went live. Still, I only seem to
experience it when my system temperature starts reaching critical
levels, and then this is usually the least of my worries ;)
Turning off the computer for a few minutes, letting it cool off, seems
to resolve the issue. This is not the case for all people, though.

My fix is getting a water cooling solution. Air cooling just doesn't
work as well anymore.

I used to have this type a problem at lot after 4+ hour raids in various
PoP zones, and turning off the "Use advanced lighting" option under
the advanced displays option menu fixed it.  I would also get some weird
clipping effects, too sometimes.

It reared its head again with PoR, but just in the guild lobby for me,
which is where it sounds like a number of people were having the problem.
Funny thing is, turning that option back on fixed the guild lobby for me.
But SoE must have finally fixed it, since I am no longer having problems
in the lobby with advanced lighting turned off.

I still get that problem off and on, usually after I have been logged in
for an extended period.

Old east-west bug that SOE knows about but can't quite get it
perfectly fixed.  You could check out the EQ forum on Sony site on
this and some of the fixes that helps.
