To everyone who hates school:
It's okay to hate school:
There is nothing wrong with you.
There is nothing wrong with hating school, there is nothing wrong with
hating being forced to go someplace you don't want to, and being
"taught" things you're not interested in, in ways that would kill you if
boredom were lethal.
You're not worthless if you don't get good grades, and you're not
mentally ill if the mere thought of school scares you.
In fact, you're probably more sane than kids who LIKE school.
Let's face it: school is boring. Being bored is hardly any way to learn
anything! No wonder hardly anyone remembers what they were forced to
memorize at school. School isn't important, it's a plain-and-simple
waste of time...
...Unless the main purpose of schools is not to educate people, but to
train them to become obedient little workers that never question the
people in charge, no matter how downright stupid the rules are (there is
a word for this, it's called Brainwashing)... Just a theory, don't take
my word for it...
Don't trust school to 'educate' you - only you can be trusted with that!
This psychologist has a message for kids who hate school:
I, as an adult and a psychologist, want to say to any children out there
who hate school: you are not alone. Most people hate it too, but usually
they don't feel entitled to say so, and many can't bear to think about
it so they hardly even know how they feel. You are not mad – you don't
have a Deep Psychological Problem (though you might develop one if you
stay in school against your will!); and you are not bad for wanting to
live your life the way you choose, doing what you think right – that is
what everyone should be doing. You are not the problem: coercion is the
problem. Being forced to go to school is the problem.
School gives learning a bad name.

While you're correct on most points, I'm concerned about two fronts:
a) this if alt.games.everquest not alt.philosophy or something
b) I don't *quite* agree with your attitude to education.
Yes schools get it horribly wrong and need to be redesigned/factored
out. Yes teachers are optimally trained to bore the living f.ck out of
kids. Yes courses need to be thrown out and largely rewritten. Yes
education is something you do all your life, not for 13 years. Yes most
'education' IS just conformist brainwashing.
However, I feel your message needs to talk non-school education up a bit
more. I don't mean taking kids out of school (schools don't get it
perfectly right but they don't get it totally wrong, and some
alternatives are known to be worse), but kids and young adults learning
to seek knowledge and educate themselves.
Regards,
James
