bizbee - 24 Dec 2005 17:04 GMT Man, I thought people had gotten over the "I'm camping everything" phase of the game. Guess not I go into Veksar, the beginning of the undead area. I spot a sentry in the hall, and kill him. Then someone says "I'm camping these." Hmmm. I turn around, and the guy is running away. I go around the corner after him and say "Sorry. Where were you if you're camping them?" No answer. "How much are you camping, anyway?" "From the entrance to the undead area down to the Lord" Now, this is what, about fifteen mobs in four different rooms? I tell him I need the hallway, and his camp is unreasonable. He goes apeshit. Calls me names, calls me a camp thief. I point out he's a greedy little prick that has kindergarten playground mentality. He goes apeshit some more, telling me <I'm> greedy, not him. Keep in mind, I killed one mob, and didn't even know he was camping it... since he was apparently three rooms deeper into the place at the time.
Then comes the absolute classic killer comment of all time: "You want to group?"
About that point I said f.ck it and left... not before asking him why I'd want to group with someone that's just proven to me on several counts that he's a worthless prick and he told me I was the a.shole (about that point I should've said "OK, let's group!") I don't think I've met anyone like this about more than three years. I didn't even think they existed anymore. Guess I was wrong.
Out of curiosity, I looked for someone else on the server from his guild. He was the only one. Must not be a very big guild. I'm just curious if this guy has some kind of mental problem, and I was looking for another opinion. I was also wondering if he's the guild leader, because that would be an indication that these are a bunch of morons to steer clear of. Last time I came across a real dickhead, and he was actually abusing an exploit (after watching him do it for two days I finally reported his a.s), he started griefing me... I went to find his guild leader, and the guild leader told me this guy was the second in command, and I could f.ck myself. This was the largest guild on Tunare at the time. Nice.
RoJblake - 24 Dec 2005 17:23 GMT Your not the first one thats happened to. Happened to me playing my 65 druid. Was kiting the guards in HOH when this prick takes my mob and proceeds to kill it, i ask wtf he doing and he says hes taking this camp. I tell him go f.ck yourself, we trade insults for 5 straight minutes, he tries to train me but i invised my self. I zone and then he says the same damn thing > want to group? I ask if he's kidding he says no. I told him to f.ck himself and congratulated him on making my prestigious ignore list

Why? Have trouble finding groups do you? Big surprise there, eh? I had half a mind to group with this guy, and pull the entire dungeon onto his a.s, then gate.

I'm sure it comes from all age groups, but I can say that I hear that sort of exchange all the time from Xbox live when my kids are playing it. The people there (my kids included on some occasions, at which point I remind them what tools they're being) berate and antagonize complete strangers incessantly, but end up seeking those same people out to play with them later. It's not even good-natured ribbing, but simple disrespectful silliness. It really is a strange mentality. Sadly, that approach to online gaming is becoming more and more prevalent.
My kingdom for a MMORPG for the mature gamer. Here's hoping Vanguard can take a step back in that direction.

>My kingdom for a MMORPG for the mature gamer. Here's hoping Vanguard can >take a step back in that direction. I'd tend to agree with your observations, if an adult ever acted this way in RL, he'd get his a.s waxed every day of the week. The "I know you are but what am I" bullshit is a giveaway. I went in and counted the mobs he claimed he was camping--16 of them in about 75% of the top half of the dungeon, yet when I mentioned his greed was unacceptible and he needed to learn how to play, His words were "I'm greedy? YOU"RE the one that's greedy, you killed a mob without even asking if it was camped!" Hmmm... well, maybe if you were somewhere <around> that mob, I would have you f.cking moron. The interesting part is that we all know, gameplay spills over into real life. Kids think nothing to taking guns to school, and killing someone in a game has been equated with nothing... and it's getting to be the same kind of behavior in RL. These kids that act like that will, no doubt, begin acting like that around people within arms reach, and find that it's not acceptable in the least--the first time some adult knocks them on their a.s.
I'm looking forward to Vanguard too, however, two things worry me terribly. McQuaid (yeah, I know he's a great designer, however, as we all remember, he's also a bonehead with no regard for what paying customers would like to see), and <shudder> the repeated use of the term "THE VISION." "The Vision" was one of the things that almost brought EQ to it's knees the first time around, plus his absolute refusal to vary from it one iota. I realize that some kind of idea of where the game is headed is necessary, but I'm not sure I'd be too anxious to use that same term. I read the Vanguard forums now and again, and people talk about EQ as if it went into the sh.tter after (and because) he left. Interestingly, when he left, I remember people praising the game for the changes they were making and the attention that SOE was paying to suggestions from players. Let's hope that there isn't a repeat of Vanguard turning into "McQuade's Ego."

I have an ooc macroed,if someone does a campcheck: /ooc EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING from Champion Kamak to the Iksar Golem camped by ME !!! :)
Takes me around 35 minutes to do a run on all nameds/phs in this area.
Note the smiley at the end of the ooc.
I just love Veksar, nice layout, almost everything comes single(except shop),very nice loot(Words of Agony!),some AA xp(around 1 AA in 2 hours),and I can melee them, which makes the killing sooo much faster. It has become somewhat popular to my surprise in the last months on my server, half a year ago I was alone everytime I went there, now it is not unusual to see 5 or so people around, but they are mostly doing the Highborn/Nobles area,I wonder why,xp from the mobs there is really bad compared to their difficulty(Harmtouch for almost 1k,summon,20k hps),and yes I know they drop the 15k Tribute gloves, but I spent there whole evenings with small groups without seeing them.

[quoted text clipped - 35 lines] > >Uland 67,310 Hunter As an added treat, this guy was level 60, hunting senties and crusaders... and he says "I'm too low to go past the Lord." These guys are like level 45. Jesus, go hunt in Skyfire, at least you get something. Let's see, you can take on three of them at a time, bunch after bunch, seldom stopping to even catch your breath, but you can't take on anything above 48 or 49? Yeah, right. What it was, I'm sure, is the guy was double boxing, as there was a level 53 frog sitting in the corner doing nothing. Now, as for the "do you want to group?" That question probably came when he realized I was a level 66 and could mow through these things, getting him and his f.cking motionless frog even more experience, faster, because most of them are green to me, so they get all the experience. I was there for a task, incidentally, or I wouldn't even bother. Not like that hallway is a goldmine. And yes, it does seem to have become more popular, but like you say, it's the same on my server, seems that most the people seem to be working the ranger 1.5 epic or have a specific goal. This guy was clearly just an idiot who has most likely not even done any research on the zone, he could easily be doing any number of mobs. Hell, the bloodgills in the front yard would give him as much experience--and maybe he could've actually played the frog, too! What a concept!
Impmon - 24 Dec 2005 22:27 GMT >Man, I thought people had gotten over the "I'm camping everything" >phase of the game. >Guess not I ran into similiar problem just yesterday. I was in a group in MPG and whenever someone asked for camp check, our group always replied task/blind.
We got the Blind and someone /ooc KSing. We ignored them at first. Not long later that person got into a nasty /ooc war of word with a group who had already camed blue/misery first. Apparantly that person was trying to camp every named in the entire MPG.
Then we got trained twice. Thankfully my group member has Exodus so all we'd was wasted time and that trainer died on both time.
We did manage to track down a member of his guild who is also an officer. That trainer was just accepted into their guild and was promptly kicked out after recieving complaint from "half of everyone in mpg"
PS on the way back to WOS, I counted 4 of his corpses scattered about. 2 of them were too old to be rezzed.
