I have heard or read (can't remember now) that the same dot's from 2
different people will stack on a mob.  So if 2 necro's cast poison
bolt on the same mob that mob will be taking full damage from both.

Is this the case?

We're thinking of putting together a 6 group party of all necros.  If
things stack that is.  I assume things like the Darkness line would
not for movement rate but maybe for damage?

Thanks.

Yes, it is the case.  Only the damage component stacks, none of the other
effects.  I believe that in some cases, DoTs won't stack due to the other
components, not sure about the Darkness line off hand.  As a shaman, all
my DoTs are just DoTs, no additional component to them, and they all
stack, including different DoTs in the same line, as well as stacking
with the identical DoTs from others.

In many cases yes.

DoT Stacking is now very easy to test...

Either your spell won't take hold or it will and the other guy either
gets a wears of message or continues to get his tick damage message.
Just keep playing with your lineups until nothing conflicts.

Darkness in particular I beleive does not stack.

Good luck

Yup!  The only dots that won't stack are dots with debuff compenents,
like the druid Ro series. Or the necro Darkness ones: the first one with the
highest movement rate decrease sticks.

So, given responses so far it's safe to assume that all 6 necros could
drop a heat blood on a mob and it will take 28x6 damage per tick?
Good god but that is awesome!

Thanks.

Aye, with six necros, you will be a killing machine.

Yup!  Note that this is true for dots, _NOT_ debuffs.  Casting two debuffs on
a mob won't have an additive effect, and in many cases won't even both stick
on the mob.

For classes that have dot+debuff spells, this can reduce the value of dot
stacking - the debuff portion not stacking may prevent the dot portion from
stacking either.

Not sure.  It's possible that the darkness line can only be on from one necro.
There are enough other lines that are pure dots for necros that you'll do
fine, though.  Should be something to see :)

Let's have a full report of one or more of the episodes.

Will do.  We play Thursday nights so I'll update this thread on
Friday.

I am looking forward to it.  I imagine a group of necros at lvl 5
could own Glooming Deep.

Soooooo......... let me just say that we owned wherever we went.

There are some obvious shortcomings to this type of group:

mana efficiency flies out the window; the mobs just die too damn fast
for dot's to be effecient
everyone want's the same drops; there wasn't a skeleton to be found in
FoB except 'ol Bones within 5 minutes.
you've got 6 people grouping with a class that is completely
self-sufficient up to 65

There may be more but we've not expereinced them yet.

On the other hand, there hasn't been anything so far that even had a
chance of standing up to us.  Average level of 9 and we took out 4
Burynai Excavators in the FoB pit simultaneously.  All were very red
to us.
XP flows like water in that group even far away from PC.  It's as if
there just aren't enough mobs to kill.

We have another group of all melee DPS that we also play; we're
somewhat flighty that way.  Personally I think the melee group is much
more effecient in the basest sense, at least until 30-35.  At that
point the mobs have enough HP's that several stacked DOT's may
actually run their course.  Along with 6 pets beating the tar out of
the mob.  I almost felt sorry for some of them this week....

In any case, somewhere within the 6 pets, snare, fear, conversions,
taps, dot's, FD, and summon corpse is the Necromancer Death Squad (aka
Death from Below and Three Feet Under).

Did I mention they're all gnomes?
