What kind of resists do you _really_ need?

I'm closing in on 200 in all my resists.

With the DoN Warded Tear Stone and Warded Rose Stone I should be able
to remove most or all my LDoN resist augments and still be over 200 in
all my resists.

Obviously more is better, but how much do you really need?

I raid with an alliance once or twice a week so I need to avoid the
AoEs as much as possible, but I also would like to start clearing out
augment spots for use with focus effect, Regen/FT, stat augs. (etc...)

That's my magleo if you are interested.

I've found that keeping 200 in all resists is a Good Thing.  Anything above
that can help, but a lot of stuff that you won't resist with 200 in all
resists you also won't resist with 500+ in all resists either (but you can
hit that, with a bard, from 200 in all resists).

Thanks. That's a good piece of advice. I didn't realise that Bard
songs gave up to 300 resist. I think I'll make sure none of my resists
falls below 200. Otherwise, I'll use the slots for other things.

Not alone.  Hell, maybe they do.  But with resist buffs from the rest of the
classes they go quite high.   =)

All resists are important, especially against some of the mobs that have
"chromatic" resists - basically rolls against your lowest resist score, so
best to keep them all as high as you can!

At the epense of hit points? At the expense of mana? of Focus? of HP?

That's really the question here... sure he wants to get his resists as
high as possible, but what's 'high enough' that he shouldn't be
sacrificing other aspects to get them higher?

It depends.  For some mobs, you want them maxxed out.  For others, 200
maybe be plenty high.  It also depends on how much is being given up for
higher resists.  Often people will have gear to swap in when appropriate
to raise specific resists, or all resists, for specific encounters.  That
is a lot less true now than it used to be however.
