Hi All;
As stated above, I may have overdosed on "stupid pills" and this question be
considered stupid, but, it's bugging me and I gotta ask.
Below is a paste from the official EQ2 site concerning food/drink. I'm a
level 31 and a guildie gave me a tier 4, level 40 drink and said this will
improve regen for power over Level 30 drink. I said no, it wont, not for me
at level 31, and we had a minor debate. I was using the tables below as a
reference. He stated that the table was worded wrong and to try the drink.
For the next 30 mins I did seem like I was regenning a little faster (no
chanty in the party using Breeze). Guildie says the table should read, ie,
level 30 drink, for level 30 AND ABOVE (not and below). He argues that with
the table saying "level 30 and below" implies that a level 29 and lower
could use a level 30 drink AND regen faster than a level 20 drink. After
this little debate, I go to the EQ2 site and keep re-reading the below
table, took another "stupid pill" and got my own self confused, because it
DID SEEM like for 30 mins I regenned a little faster (imagination??). In the
table below under the "NOTE" section it says not to waste money on higher
level food/drink that it will be capped by your character's level. Ok, I can
read that as saying ".....ok level 30 and below, means that since I'm a
level 31 my character needs to use the next higher level since this
statement says "level 30 and below" and regen faster....". However, reading
the table in this manner, level 40 is for level 40 and below, now I CAN'T
use the level 40 as a level 31 and benefit......sigh....this is where I
confuse myself and come to you guys.

a.. Food/Drink Level - Food/Drink Level is the primary factor that
determines how much health/power the food/drink regenerates while outside of
combat. Food/Drink levels typically appear in 10 level increments (10, 20,
30, 40, 50). It is important that the food/drink level is well matched for
your character's level. As long as the food/drink level is close to equal or
greater than your character's level you should be fine.
a.. Level 10 - Supplies optimal regeneration for characters level 10 and
lower.
b.. Level 20 - Supplies optimal regeneration for characters level 20 and
lower.
c.. Level 30 - Supplies optimal regeneration for characters level 30 and
lower.
d.. Level 40 - Supplies optimal regeneration for characters level 40 and
lower.
e.. Level 50 - Supplies optimal regeneration for characters level 50 and
lower.
f.. Note - while lower level characters can consume higher level
food/drink, the amount of regeneration it supplies will be capped by the
character's level. Basically, don't wast money on food/drink that is too
high level for you character, you won't get more regeneration out of it.

[snip level 30 vs level 40 drink regen for level 31 character]
It's very easy to test - get level 30 drink, use up power, drink the
drink, then hover the mouse pointer over the power bar. You'll see it
increasing every few seconds, always by the same amount. That's your
regen per tick. Now repeat with a level 40 drink, and see if the
regen per tick is higher.

Looking at this last sentence, it is saying that you should get good
enouggh regeneration if you drink of a level lower than you level as
long as it is close - if you are much higher than it then you should
use the next level higher than your level. This would imply that the
30 or the 40 drink is good for a level 31 character.

The level 30 drink is best for people at level 30 or less and the level
40 is best for people at level 40 or less. As you are greater than 30
but less than 40 I would say that the level 40 drink is an improvement
over the level 30 drink.

This, and the rest of the excerpt, say to me that the level 40 drink
will give you more regen than the level 30 drink but that the amount of
increase may not be enough to warrant the greater price.

Here's how it works..
Higher levels do give better regen, but it is still capped by your
level.
If you are level 31,, and drink a level 30 drink.. it will regen at
level 30. Drink cap
if you are level 31 and drink a level 40 drink.. it will regetn at
level 31 .Your level cap.
if you are level 31 and drink a level 20 drink.. it will regen at level
20 . again drink cap.
As it works out.. your best benefit is to start drinkin level 40 when
you are about level 33-34 to show any real improvement..
The levels of drink are base 10 - just so you dont have 50 different
drinks you gotta search through.

What OUTSTANDING answers....!!
Thank you all very, very, much. This finally makes sense.
I will copy and paste this stuff to guild page, in that there is some
confusion and conflicting thoughts.
Be safe all and again, Thanks very much for the clarity.
