Ok, so I finally bit the bullet and started two boxing a new Warrior.
(Our guild is in desperate need of a dedicated meat shield.) It's been
quite a while since I last played a warrior. There are these
newfangled things called Combat Abilities (and I gather something
called Disciplines too.) I went through the tutorial, and got my charm
up to full, and was taught something called Throw Stone. Fairly neat.
An autoatic unresistable 1 point of damage with minor agro every 10
seconds.

Anyway, most people would say it's farely useless after about level 5
or so, because you practically have to be inside agro radius of most
mobs to use it and it only does a single point of damage. On the other
hand it's almost free to use (apparently) and over the course of a
battle that might be 10 points of damage. (I have lost a battle by
less than 10 points before.) Also it just might possibly pull a MOB
off of a caster one fraction of a second sooner than not using it.

Soooo. I want to use it, but it's not important enough to have to
click it seperately. I want to include it in the same social I have
Kick and Taunt in. Is there some way to do that? (I suppose if not,
you can bind a hot key location to a key on the key board. How do you
do that?)

The tutorial mentions other things like Throw Stones, that use the
Endurence bar. Any place to locate that information? I'm not having
much luck locating any.

Also all the Warrior guides I can find around on the net are
apparently very out of date. Can anyone fill me in on what's changed
since pre-Luclin, warrior wise? (Big question I know.) =)

Thanks, in advance.

Excuse me ,I cant help you with your question.
But I am curious.  :)

What level and how many AAs would you call
a "dedicated meat shield" and how long do you
think will it take to reach that ?

Maybe its easier to recruit a warrior.

Well level 40 should do. Most of my guild is under 60, so a 40th level
warrior can group with them. From there I should be able to level up
quickly enough to start closing in on them. With a 55th level Shammy
PLing him, I should be able to make it soon. Of course, I'm looking to
make mid 50's after not too long.

>Maybe its easier to recruit a warrior.

We've tried. Not too many warriors running around. I have only grouped
with 2 in the last 55 levels. =( A troll and a DE. One was really
good, but was snatched up before we could get our guild going and the
other sucked. Actually our guild leader actually said he's considering
stopping trying to recruit warriors and get another cleric, and he
would start a warrior instead. He already has a Monk alt though, and
on FV you have to have an account for each alt. I have been thinking
about getting a warrior or Pally or SK alt to 2box with. So it made
sense for me to do so. This will make "soloing" a lot easier.

What guild is this, if I may ask? :)

Midnight Vultures.

A very small family style guild. Most of us play after midnight
eastern time, so that why the guild officers chose that name. Have
about 16 characters and about 13 players right now. The average level
would be about 50 without the alts (some of the officers have very
little play time and are low 40's right now) but the people who are on
the most are level 54 to 59 (With a few over 60, our Blue Elf Chanter
just made 65). Mostly we just help each other camp quest items, and
when we can field a full group (usually on Sundays), we go someplace
like Veksar to pick up equipment upgrades for guildies. Though there
are a few that want to grind exp more than anything else, but they
seem to have tired of trying to hit 65 before the next expansion. =)
We intend to raid occasionally when we have the manpower for it. We
will probably hit some targets in Kunark and Velious first.

About half the guild will role play, if you are role playing, but most
of them don't usually.

There are essentially two entrance requirements. Be level 45 or higher
and know how to play your character. (Though the Level 45 requirement
is waived for people who are nice and who are excellent players.) We
will want to group with you a few times first though. I believe that
nothing can kill a guild faster than inviting Morons and Jerks into
it.

Don't expect much out of this guild, except company and help when you
ask for it. Right now we don't have any "phat lootz". =)

I don't know if you wanted a full run down, but I decided I might as
well. We are always recruiting.

Don't think I've ever heard of them, but I see now why. :) At the time your
guild is active, my character is hawking wares in the bazaar while I'm
either in bed or trying my best to get there. :)

Aye, no harm in giving the full rundown; sounds interesting, and if I were
in the right playing time, and wasn't already a) guilded and b) have another
guild actively recruiting me while mine is on the downslope, I might be
interested. :)

Thanks for the info.

These things are intended pretty much solely to help a Warrior acting in a
group as a tank to hold agro. The throwing of stones is kinda funny to me
actually, as I have always had in my warrior taunt macro a "/em sticks his
tongue out at %t" as a comment on the effectiveness of taunt. Seems someone
at SOE has a sense of humor too.

I havent yet seen or heard of a /doability type command for the new combat
abilities yet... but I hope they do as I too would like to add it to my
macros.

Ah... is *that* what throw stones is for? Taunt?

My monk was thrilled when he got it because I thought I be able to stop
burning through so many shuriken to pull...

But then I found out it was on the same timer as lull. And promptly
forgot about it....

Eh?  When do monks get Throw Stone?

I'm having trouble finding out what new disciplines have become
available for my monk.  I dinged 35 (and 36) this weekend and it
was only because I was grouped with another high-30s monk that I
found out it was time to hunt up my first "lull" discipline.
And the other monk went LD before I could ask where to find it.
Fortunately the guy with Monk Tomes in PoK had it.  But I
suspect there are other disciplines like Throw Stone that monks
share with other classes, where I need to go to a non-monk Tome
vendor to find them.

Is there an up to date list compiled somewhere of the disciplines
available to the various melee classes, and maybe even where to
buy them?  I tried Alla's "Learn Some Discipline" quest listing,
but it doesn't even mention the Tome of Phantom Zephyr (the lull
I got at 35).  And of course Monkly-Business is long out of date.

As near as I can figure. The range on throw stone is so small you can kick
the mob for pulling if it dosent charge at you because you were standing on
it's foot...

It has some small advantages.  You can use it even if you aren't
facing the mob and I think you can use it through walls. So it has
some utility, pulling those greens inside those little houses ogres
can't get into.

Assuming they're in range of course, which is pretty minute.
