Epic Levels

This stems from a guild discussion. What is the lowest level you know of
for a character to have completed their Epic. It would be extremely
funny to have a low level running around with one. I saw another post
here many months back about the newbie quests and set out to try and
match the feat. I managed to finish off the Felwithe newbie Cleric quest
without the alt actually ever killing anything. The only experience the
alt got was on the turn ins for the weapon and the starting note. I know
this wouldn't be possible for an Epic, but would like to see a
discussion from people who have been there to see their opinions on the
minimum possible level to obtain one.

level 46   for "real" epic  they are coded the same as old world planes  my
ranger was epiced at 46.

as for paladins  i saw a lvl 6  with a Soulfire , the first of theyre 3 epic
swords. they can do this because  the items to turn in are droppable so they
have the baby pally run arouns get the notes then give them the droppable
part and viola , soulfire ala carte

For a magician, I think you have to be at least 46 to get some of the NPC's
to talk to you.  Even though you can get the spell to summon the orb at 46
(think it works that way instead of the epic piece being a permanent item),
you can't use the orb to summon the epic pet until 51.  Until then, the epic
Orb of Mastery is just an item with nice stats. That's what I've gathered
from reading.  I've run into a couple of epic mages but didn't grill them
about their experiences.

I've heard of level 29 pallies running around with their epics.  Clerics can
have their epics at level 1, but can't right-click rez until level 50.  The
Magician epic is a level 46 spell, which obviously does a level 1 no good.

Most epics have been outdated by other spells / weapons anyway.  Right now
my level 44 paladin is running around with not one but two weapons that have
better DPS than the pally epic.  So while it might be the ultimate twink
statement to be running around with your epic, in most cases the effort is
not worth the reward.  About the only exception is the cleric epic, which is
still an essential item for any high-end cleric.

Then you heard wrong.

The final turn in to get the Firey Defender takes place in Plane of Fear.
Even if you multiquested all the other steps, nobody under level 46 would be
able to zone in to complete it.

I seem to recall hearing that at one time, any level character could zone
into the planes, the level restriction was introduced later one.  I don't
know the timing of that vs adding the epic weapons however.

Before epics were added.   Long before.

The cleric epic IS the most useful epic, IMO, but there are others
that are still very useful.  The bard epic in particular is still
extremely useful; although there are now other non-instrument items
with instrument mods, the epic is still a very useful weapon since it
adds power to any song, no matter what that song's instrument mod is.
All the items ith instrumental mods on them are from upper Planes,
anyway, and as such, many bards will never see them.

Also, people tend to forget that in most cases, the stats on the epics
are very good.  There are only a couple of cases I can think of where
the effort is no longer worthwhile for the epic, because either the
effort is insane vs. the payoff (mage) or items with better stats and
effects are available readily now (necro, SK, etc.)

What WAS the lowest is no longer possible. Epics have been nerfed such that
the final turn ins can't be done until either 50 or 51 now (don't recall
which). They'll eat your stuff if you try and do it too soon.  Some of the
interim turn ins seem to have level floors on them too.

Thing that erks me about this is that they quests still don't say anything
about level limits, so the notion of eating your turn ins seems a bit harsh.

... no i   got my rangers epic  only a little longer than a month ago. at
level 46, and  trust me, i have  very   good inside sources whom tell me
epic quests are hardcoded for level 46,  just like old world planes.

Must be class dependent then - Bards have been getting theirs eaten based on
being too low. There are recently been reports of prelimary turn ins being
eaten too if seemingly too young (a 35 had the guts go poof). GM's have
indicated to the petitioners that they are too low. In most (but not all)
cases, they have returned the poofed items due to the quest not saying
anything about the restriction.

There are multiple threads on this at www.eqdiva.com. I've heard rumors of
similar issues with the cleric epic, but I have yet to see that
substantiated by anyone I trust.

Well, it's not an epic, but my level 10 paladin is a lil' faction work
away from Soulfire. And she is wearing Kromrif military leggings.
