Have you seen the in game lame items sony has given out.. ha ha they are a
joke. I look at it this way if the keep enticing new players to the game
with cheap come on pieces sooner or later enough will stick around and buy
the stuff on my bazaar mule :)
Other wise join the legends server and buy all the crap you want ha ha...

Good point. If they give away weak items as promotional stuff to
entice more players, I have no problem with that. Heck, I bought
the boxed LDON partly in order to get the in-game WR bag.
I'd only get torqued if they started giving away "good" items for
money. "This week only, get a Cloak of Flames for only $100..."

Don't ever say that again, or they're liable to hear you.

to be honest I think sony already is selling items and plat ....I have
browsed the items at playerauctions and have to wonder where the heck one
guy has so many items on EVERY server?????? I hate to think that I it is a
conspiracy BUT after the way sony has handled the 8 expansions and the
pricing for the game and the promotion of the expansions, it would not
surprise me at all that they have all along been selling plat and items for
real money. (heck if I was running sony and my job depended on the
bottom-line...you can bet your arse I would be doing it!)
just my 2cp on that thought

The answer.. should be obvious. He buys them from players in game,
sells them on playerauctions for cash, and then transfers the item in
game to the new buyer. As long as the money he spent to get the item
is less than the money he received for the item... he makes profit.
I'm also sure he has software programs like Access and Quickbooks and
what not to track transfers.. and if sophisticated enough has had
programs written to automate some of the out-of-game overhead. I.e.
inventory tracking programs.. which character has what, etc.

Oh please... if Sony employed a team of people to do this the word
would get out. If they get in the business they'll say so.. like in
the LA Times article. The main virtual traders in EQ are Jonathan
Yantis and IGE(a Hong Kong based outfit with a 100 person staff
dedicated to buying and selling virtual items in any mmorpg that you'd
like... check them out at www.ige.com.. you can even find out their
buy and sell rate for platinum on your server).
