Actually they drop items pretty well. I seem to remember averaging about
1 item per 4 Dark Masters, back when we were doing Doomshade. Usually it
wasn't a good item, but it was an item.

Only if you kill all 4, and get the 4'th dead before the first respawns.
Would have to be a uber group to get that done, considering the amount of
other mobs you also have to deal with to get the masters to a semi-safe
place to kill.

If they are chanting (they don't do it constantly, only once every couple
hours) then you will spawn Doomshade if they all die, and the spawn will be
lost for 3 days. If they are not chanting, killing them (even all 4 dead
at once) does nothing.

My old guild used to farm Doomshade and would see three or four usable
armour drops per clearing of ALL types: ThePinkHelm(tm), Moktor, DM
etc.
Only pair of Greaves I saw drop went to a Bard. Grrr.
Immune to root/snare/slow, tons of HPs, damage shield, summon. Not
efficient xp mobs that's for sure. [*]
[*] I might be confused here - it's been a while and we always had at
least 30 people whacking away so they died quickly no matter what.

The cool thing about them not being slowable, though, means everyone can
start off the battle by casting dispel magic on the mob...who cares that
you'll dispel slow, cuz it ain't there! :D
It doesn't sound like they hit *hard* though...they just aren't
slowable. Which does rattle me a little about my ability to taunt them,
but my husband crunched numbers based on things he's read on line, and
assures me that if he keeps Q on me constantly and we have a cleric, I can
tank in a pinch.
