I have had daily crashes since 2 patches ago and since the patch yesterday I
can go only a few minutes no matter what zone I am in. I've tried
everything. New graphics, sound, mouse, motherboard drivers, eqplaynice.
Ran thorough diagnostic programs on memory and hard disk, and semi-thorough
on graphics and sound. Removed sound card, changed graphics card (from
radeon 9700 to an old 7000). Acceleration low, models off, msconfig disable
all in startup tab, delete eqclient.ini, delete /maps. I eventually
repartitioned and reinstalled everything. Nothing fixes this. Perhaps the
Gods are telling me NO to eq.

Perhaps they're just saying NO to ATI cards :-)

I tried the same with a Geforce 4 TI 4200 and an ATI 9600 Pro, both
lastest drivers. Clean install, both XP and 2000. Latest drivers.
Skeleten config in EQ. Still crashing.
I cry for the old times before the DX9 upgrade. I was rock solid
before, never crashed. *whimper*

The last time I had problems like that, I -think- what fixed it was
installing the VIA 4-in-1 driver thingys that I'd forgotten to install.
It might also have been cleaning all the dust out of the computer though.
But I'm pretty sure the 4-in-1 thingy is what actually fixed it. So if
your motherboard has a VIA chipset, you might try that. Or if there's
other mysterious drivers for your chipset, etc.
