Velks it is, but thats hardly inconcievable in a group for a 48
druid.

As far as I know the threads drop nowhere but in Velks.

The threads only drop in Velks. You're best best is to hunt up at the top,
but no way can you solo it at 48 . ;)

Stand at ZI and /ooc Working on 5th shawl.  In the need of no drop silks.
Would be very much appreciated if I could loot any that were going to rot.
Will come to you.

You wont have to fight any spiders.

People /ooc for them daily.

Back when I did that shawl, I ooced for them a lot, got maybe 5 threads
total that way, the rest were from grouping there, and finding the
occasional abandoned corpse with threads on it still.

Velks is the only place I know of for the threads.  The silks drop in
Thurgadin mines and in Crystal Caverns, but not the threads.

Threads are made by combining two silks in a sewing kit (same as any other
silks), but the ones in CC aren't the special nodrop ones you need to make
the shawl. They're good for getting your tailoring up so that when it comes
to the combines, you don't waste the useful ones. Best of luck.

Crystalline Silk Threads are dropped by spiders in Velks, they are
nodrop, and they are used for the shawl.

Two spiderling silks combined in a kit do yield a thread, which has
absolutely nothing to do with what we are talking about here.  Two
Crystalline Silks, dropped by various spiders in CC, Thurgadin mines, and
Velks, are combined to make a Crystalline Silk Swatch.  Again, this has
nothing to do with what we are talking about however.

Back to the No Drop Threads...

They drop off spiders in Velks, you combine five of them to make one
Crystalline Silk Fiber, you then combine three of those fibers with one
shardwurm bile to make the Glowing Crystalline Silk, five of the Glowing
Crystalline Silk are then combined with your shawl 4 to make shawl 5.

I hope that clears up the confusion you seem to have about the subject.

Yes, but you can usually go in and give an OOC asking if anyone is willing
to let you loot ones off their kills if you can't get a group.  Also, make
sure your tailoring is well above what you've read for skill level for
combining on the last combine.  I've failed twice now... The first time with
a skill of 130 and the second time with 165 Probably just bad luck but
having to collect all these threads and bile again is getting old... lol

I did all my thread combines at 118 tailoring, failed on one of the
combines of 5 threads (it is 5, right, been a while), succeeded on all
other combines for that shawl, including final combine.  Make sure to
have a Geerlock when you do the combines.

And then look at the trivial for the final combine of the 6th shawl, and
cringe. =)

Lol, um, I did that at 118 tailoring, got a skillup to 119, oh, and
succeeded first try.  Did that back to back with shawl 5.

Don't hate me.

Yep. But if you can get some friends a bit higher level than you
to AE the spiders (pull them all to zone at the same time, run
fast heals on the person with aggro, and throw in PB AE spells
till they're all dead) you can do it in about an hour.
