bob - 11 Apr 2004 08:29 GMT i would really like to start i bard character, but i already used up my one FV character and don't want to lose the role-playing aspect of the game. is there another server where role-playing flourishes?

RP guilds can be found on other servers, Bob. Better RP than I've ever found on FV, IMO. On Tunare, you'll find a pair of guilds dedicated to RP called Wind Riders and Shadow Striders. They've been around almost as long as EQ has. They're set up in opposition to each other, and are a generally fun crowd. Their website is http://wind.jerhyn.com . Also, they have an OOC chat channel. /join wrooc if you ever pop in on the Tunare server (or you can check it from another server with /join tunare.wrooc). Feel free to pop in and say hi.
Just note, they don't have uber guild raid events or anything like that. It's a family RP guild. They put more focus on RP than raiding.

Scott - 22 Apr 2004 07:07 GMT > I beg your pardon, but I've walked into a bank numerrous times with a pistol > on my waist (as a private citizen). Lucky you, I tried that and got arrested for inciting a panic, even though I never once touched the pistol aside from putting it into the holster before leaving the house. Now I've got a permit to carry concealed, love this new law here in Ohio.
George C. Sievers - 22 Apr 2004 13:08 GMT You both have serious emotional problems. What is it exactly you are wearing this pistol for? Protection from aliens? Charleton Heston? How many times have you had to use your gun and how many people have you shot with it? (on purpose, that is). Which militia is it that you belong to again?
I have enough trouble tolerating cops with guns much less "ordinary" citizens.

Mirwen Melo're - 22 Apr 2004 17:37 GMT What I don't get is why this thread degraded from an EQ Players simple question about role-playing on other servers to this drivel. Far too many kids (or "adults" with the maturity of children) have more time on their hands than they need. Go mow lawns! Go outside and play cops and robbers with your little guns. Leave the threads alone till you know what is appropriate to post in a thread/newsgroup that clearly has a title and a topic. It's called respect for others. ...something their parent's didn't teach them.

This is addressed in the "How to get along in the AGE newsgroup" section of the faq posted in my sig. Might be useful for you to take a look at it.

IMHO, cops would be useless in deterring crime and protecting the public if they were forced to do so w/o guns, hell you may as well add the military to that list. FYI, many police forces are now adding tasers to a police officers arsenal.

> I had said people have the right, didnt say it wasn't rude nor that the IANAL, but you dont have the right to have or use a cell phone.
You may use a cell phone, but a private property owner is well within his rights, as a matter of law, to throw you out when you do. A private property owner may not toss you out for being a minority, or based on your religeous creed, because that type of discrimination is proscribed.
The government of any municipality can also terminate your usage of a cell phone at any time. You cell phone is not a right, as defined in the Constitution, and AFAIK the restriction of that right is not pre-empted by Federal law, like federally licensed amatuer radio operators. It stems from the common-law right to use property that you own.
It is rude, and I wish that theatre owners would throw out rude patrons on the first offense.
Kanjien - 14 Apr 2004 12:40 GMT RP does infact exist on many different servers at many different levels. As to if it "flourashes" or not is a matter of opinion. I would suggest going to EQRoleplayers.com and looking at the info there. There is a guild listing of all known RP guilds on all of the servers grouped by alignment. I know we have several RP guilds on EMarr that are doing very well besides my own.
Good Luck.

The one character rule is one of the primary reasons I don't play on FV. I like to RP a variety of characters. Not for twinking purposes, but because I RP a different personality character for whatever mood I'm in. Having to stick to one means there'd be days of awful RP because I'm just not in the mood to play his/her personality right. I can't, for instance, play my upbeat and optimistic character when I'm in a dark and brooding mood...

Not for twinking purposes, [quoted text clipped - 3 lines] > can't, for instance, play my upbeat and optimistic character when I'm > in a dark and brooding mood... I hear you. There's been a lot of talk lately about the pros and cons of opening up the other character slots for FV, but (imo) it would be a disaster *unless* they got rid of the special no-nodrop rule as well. Some people say they like the one character rule because reputation means more, but considering how easy it is to reroll... eh.
The lack of nodrop on FV, combined with the whole plat farming/buying plat issue, has brought a lot, has attracted a lot of people who are there *just* for the loot, for the stuff that can be bought there that can't be bought on other servers (since on any other server it'd be nodrop).
I'd be quite happy, personally, if FV became just like any other server (normal nodrop rules, 8 slots, etc) and was differentiated soley by the "roleplaying perferred" label. I could recreate my Cazic Thule characters to join my current FV main.

Depends on your definition of "flourish". If you mean is it server-wide, no. But it's not server-wide on FV either. I don't run into many people on Tunare that aren't willing to "play along" if you act RP-ish on Tunare...

Mirwen Melo're - 14 Apr 2004 17:31 GMT As Kanjien mentioned, go to 'EverQuest Role-players' (http://tinyurl.com/3bqej). If you can't click the link the url is www.everquestroleplayers.com.
The following was taken from the above site.
> Official RP Server > *Firona Vie* - 5 RP guilds [quoted text clipped - 5 lines] > *Erollisi Marr* - 6 RP guilds > *Mithaniel Marr* - 5 RP guilds I would not say this is in stone in any way. This was based on the number of guilds registered with everquestroleplayers.com. So there may be other servers with a far greater number of individual role-players, but fewer guilds, or they've just not registered at the site.
Whether or not a server flourishes in RP is more about the consistent in game role-playing by the players themselves, more than how many RPers are on a given server. Numbers will certainly help that and the more role-players there are on a server the higher the probability you will find friends or even a guild that fits you, but still, RP is in the players doing it, not always the server or the statistics.
I can't say I'm not bias towards Emarr. It's nice to see that Emarr is considered the #2 RPing server to date.
