Finally "finished" his gear. Just thought I'd post the profile now that he's
reached this stage tho - the first time in his life that I'm truly proud of
his gear. It's also an example of what can be achieved without a single raid
drop - it's all just grouping and bazaar.

Some thoughts:

* I'm a walking billboard for veksar! 7 slots filled from there.
* STA 195. +22 to go from AA's. Boar adds 60, so I figure I've got 5 +6
aug's to go before I cap it good and proper. If it weren't for LDoN I'd
probably be making sacrifices to get STA items in place - something I'm
quite glad I don't have to do!
* Next goals are:
   - Finish tanking AA's. PE next then maybe planar durability, the rest of
CA, then the planar CA/CS things. Then sta.
   - Complete Stamina Quest, get it to 305 buffed.
   - LDoN nodrop armour
   - 8th shawl maybe (FT is priceless to a class that never gets to med and
is constantly casting expensive spells I reckon)
   - Ornate plate boots maybe

A penny for your thoughts?

Cheers,
James

The modern drops available in the Bazaar are remarkable. And the prices
are nothing short of amazing. 2 K for a 13/20 1HS with good stats? 13/21
piercers with great stats and 10 ATK for 2 K? That's crazy!

> * I'm a walking billboard for veksar! 7 slots filled from there.

Kylong Darkmail is great stuff. I'm jealous of your mask - I can never
catch one for sale for my wee people. At least I can sell the rogue's
current mask (Rotting Eye) for more than the 8 K I paid when I finally do
find a Kylong, though.

No STA from AA's. It may seem smart now, but it will haunt you when you
move on and get better gear that puts you at STA cap (and that day will
happen). Get your tanking AA's instead, as they'll likely save you more HPs
than the STA would add anyways. After that, look into what AA's help your
class the most, get something "cool" like Unholy Steed, or start on your DPS
AA's (combat fury, 2 handed bash, etc.) You're a hybrid, so you have a ton
of AA's to get that can be useful.

Don't do STA. Really, you'll regret it.

If you don't like tradeskills, I wouldn't recommend it. If you do, go
for it. I find people that don't like tradeskills really have a tough time
of the shawl and tend to burn out on the game while doing it.

Actually, I was going to suggest an ornate helm. The helms are usually
the cheapest Ornate piece available in The Bazaar, and the effect
(Plainsight, UV/See Invis) means not relying on buffs like Pact of Hate to
be able to see. The stats are good, too - AC: 28 STR: +4 DEX: +2 STA: +5
INT: +6 AGI: +3 HP: +50 MANA: +40 SV FIRE: +6 SV COLD: +4 SV POISON: +5.
Arms might be a good investment if you can find them for cheap, too, as the
regen effect helps mitigate against Pact of Hate (and the stats are nice).
Other than that, though, just keep doing what you're doing now - that's a
very nice character! :-)

Some things I wasn't going to suggest until I saw the post about
the Nadox raid -

BoT Ice boss drops Mantle of the Rainmaker - +100hp, 18ac and
a bunch of stats - Pal, Shd, Bard, Rng, Bst.  Also drops
Ornate BP's (plate), Bulwark of Faith (shield) and a 14/18 1hs
(think it's most melee)  He's the easiest boss in BoT - we took
him today with 13 people.

2 clerics
1 shaman
3 warriors
1 ranger
1 bard
1 enchanter
4 mages

The enchanter was the only one with a charm pet (2 of us mages
have CoTAM, but no elementals on the way to the boss).

Got to use CoTAM for the first time against Chaoswind - my pet
did 493DPS (89,215 damage) and I did almost 20k in nukes.  Then
enchanter pet did 433dps (77k IIRC)

That is a damn nice mantle.
http://www.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=18553

That would be good for me for two reasons:
       - my current mantle, although havign seriously cool resists, adds
zero hp and stamina
       - it would preclude me from thinking about the 8th shawl

I'll have to talk my guild into doing him at some stage :o)

Cool, I regularly group with a mage...... he's a complete nutcase,
bought a mana robe for 70k and has it sitting next to newbie armour pieces.
He's been talking about getting some sort of elemental charm thingy for BoT,
sounds like what you're talking about ;)

I could never afford to buy veksar stuff in the bazaar... we dungeon
crawled all mine - except the helm that was a gift.

The mask drops of a REALLY irritatingly uncommon spawn (is a placeholder
more often than synthrax's spawnpoint is) and the named can either drop the
mask or a slightly less cool neck piece. It's probably never in the bazaar
because people camping nobles still want it for themselves.

By the far the *most* annoying piece is the boots though, the slave camp
is very slow experience for a bunch of 65's and has a lot of bad, bad
habits. You're also limited to one or two nameds while you're there, just
from the sheer quantity of mobs you're buried under.

Well, it makes sense to me to get tanking AA's before stamina, but it's
going to take me a hugely long time to cap it without spending those last 11
points on it... we'll see, many many AA's to spend before im at that stage.
Maybe my guild will be seriously raiding by then.

I'm kinda pissed at tradeskills atm. I *did* enjoy doing them once upon
a time but every time I put a major effort into one the bottom seems to drop
out of the market when im 3 points away from my goal <g>

Thanks for that advice I might have to think about that one, and I've
got a friend who hates tradeskills who's been thinking about it... so ill
pass on your words to him.

Hmm that is a nice helm and the effect would help - although if im
wearing my gear and am not buffed at all my neckpiece is a lightsource in a
pinch.

Depending on how much you want to spend, you may want to look at a
Bloodmetal Earring of Engagement, it will add more hp and stamina to one of
your ear slots.  Off the top of my head i can't think of any bracer you
would want but there are a few out there that you can obtain that have sta
and hit points with decent AC.  Depending on what mobs you are consistently
fighting your AC might be too high (meaning you could trade high ac items
for more sta/hp items.  The WMBS is a nice weapon but for 2 handers you
reach critical mass with a weapon that has a delay of 31+ so you might think
about trading that out.

Not really sure about what you mean by "Critical mass" at a delay of 31
and above there.

WMBS is the highest DPS droppable knight weapon in the game, to my
knowledge. The only disadvantage of the incredibly low delay is more
ripostes, which I personally believe to be an overstated issue.

Although one of my earrings and neither of my bracers add stamina, they
provide excellent resists, which is one area I've compromised on. (the cloak
and shoulders are a good/bad example of that)

I'm kinda taken aback that nobody commented on the ceramic gavel of
justice ;)

Sword of Ssraeshza is probably slightly better, Norge'tal is better yet.
Stone Etched Warsword should be considerably better.  I'm sure there are
some others.

Ssraehza, Norge'tal and SEWS are No-Drop.  WMBS Drop. :)

There's about 100 better in game but not many (if any) are droppable.

Scalecracker might be better if the target player wasn't at 41% haste
already. But that's cheating. ;-)

Missed that one little word there.

We got a 13/20 1HS off a LDoN mob we didn't even realise was a named.

That's the 1HS I'm talking about for 2 K, the one from LDoN Rujark
theme.

Haste items have undergone the same drop in price due to the Soulscream
Belt from Veksar being so common. 31% haste with nice stats in waist slot
for 14 K? 36% haste in back slot (CoCW) for 20 to 25 K? Just nuts.

Shoot - rangers can get a 14/21 axe with vengeance 2.  They're down
to 1k or less on Lanys.  I picked up a 16/25 HTH weapon, and a nearly
as nice piercer for a total of <3k for my BL.  Both looked to come
from LDoN based on the names.  I remember when Crescent blades of
Luclin ran 10k plus and were a hot item <sigh>  Also, the MM leggings
and a LDoN cape are inexpensive, high (for bazaar gear) ac and HP
for a BL.
