I'm pretty new to the game, so don't make fun of me if this is a dumb
question:

Can I mark certain places on the map?  Someone told me to click on the
little compass in the corner that a menu should come up and I need to click
on "label" or something...but when i tryed that nothing happened, even when
I restarted the game.

Clicking on the compass should do it.  I forget if it's left or right click.
Also, I think the map-enhancement feature may've been part of an early
upgrade so if you only have the basic game it might not be enabled.

The mapping system came with the Legends of Ykesha (LoY) expansion so you
would need that. In addition, EQAtlas (eqatlas.com) have a zip file of maps
you can use. As regards the menu, yes clicking the compass should bring it
up, if you have LoY.
