Last night I was in befallen killing whatever wouldn't kill me
first...
Eventually a ghost popped up and asked me to do him a favor (it's alot
longer than that but you get the point) anyways, I took his note and
his bridle, then decided to explore a little further.  Anyways I got
swarmed and died.

I asked someone to please help me, and lo and behold a lvl 65 shammy
came and cleaned out the dungeon for me, and helped me get my corpse.

I was so excited I decided to stay and explore a little longer.  Just
to be wise I decided to cast invis on myself so they couldn't see me
if they respawned.

About 10 minutes later a mummy starts whacking away at me, he hits me
SO hard I died in no time flat.

My invis didn't drop, it just doesn't work against undead.

Doh!

Anyone else?

Time to roll out one of my favorite stories...

As a young dwarf warrior fighting the orc hordes near Kelethin, I got tired
of running back from Butcherblock whenever I died.  Well at 12th level I
still had not bothered to ask for a bind near Kelethin, but now was the
time.  I stood near the path leading to Crushbone, and asked in the zone,
and shortly an Erudite showed up and offered to cast bind on me.  He asked,
"Are you Sure you want to be bound Here?"  to which I said Yes.  He cast; I
gave what gold I had (having recently given my one and only platinum piece
to a lady who cast Spirit of Wolf on me), and he said "GL" and left.

This was where begun a hard lesson in the 'Z' axis of Norrath. You see, I
had said 'Yes' to being bound on the Elevator near that woodland path...and
with said elevator in the UP position. Now, should fortunes of battle cause
me to return to my bind point and the elevator was UP then things were well.
But if the elevator should be down...well, if you have ever seen a "Coyote
and Roadrunner" cartoon you know the expression on my face for that breifest
of moments while I hung in mid-air, then the ground came up to greet me...

...Now you know, the rest of the Story...

From the shadows, the mysterious gr82meetu78@yahoo.com (Steve) (if
that IS his real name) conspiratorially whispered:

>Anyone else?

After a hair raising trip with my warrior on FV, a whopping L25 at the
time, no invis, no sow, through Dreadlands from the FV zoneline to the
nexus portal, pre-PoK, just after Luclin came out actually (which
wasn't long after FV itself was put up), so there were few or none
higher than 50 on the server (and none in DL), an epically dangerous
trip in every way... I attacked the scion.

To this day I don't know what brain fart caused me to hit the + key
(my attack button) when I got there. It meant I had to do it again,
naked (I was bound in FV), AND the whole point of leaving Kunark was
gone since I was going to go train riposte, but dying lost me my
level.

Looong ago, when the servers were relatively young and my main
character had clawed his way up to level 5 after several days
of work (this was back when dying at level 5 would lose you exp, and
since I started out with no friends or guild in the game, I was
entirely on my own), and had acquired what was for me at the time
some reasonably decent gear, I was fighting around Kelethin when
someone ooc'ed, "porting from the wizard spire to NK".

I had recently read that Misty Thicket was a good zone
for someone of my level, and after getting beat up in GFay
and BB I decided to go "see the world".  I noted on my
maps that NK was a lot closer to Misty Thicket than GFay,
so I hiked to the wizard spires and hitched a ride.  As
it turned out he expected a hefty (to me in those days)
fee, but when I said that I didn't have the enormous
sum of 10p, he offered to take me for free, which I
appreciated.

The Wizard ported his passengers to NK, then gated out.

I poked around the "guardhouse" there, then did an /ooc
saying, "Level 5 Paladin newly arrived to this zone,
what should I do while I'm here?"

I swear, I got five replies all saying, "RUN!"

After /conning a few distant mobs and finding them
all blood red to me, I realized the error of my ways,
and the unlikelihood of hiking safely across the plains
of Karana.

While pondering my next move, I explored the guardhouse
some more, and climbed up the stairs to the top of the
guardhouse to admire the view.

Where I promptly fell to my death.

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT.  You have entered Greater Faydark.
Naked.

Panic.

Now I had to figure out how to bum a free port back to my
corpse to retrieve my gear, and then back again to a zone
safe for a level 5 Paladin.

I sent out a call for a port, explaining my predicament
and asking for some kind soul to do me a freebie favor.

Eventually someone in wolf form showed up (at the time,
still a novelty) and asked me where my corpse was.  I told
him, and he said that if I /consented him, he could go there,
loot my corpse, and bring my stuff back to me (this was in
the days when that was still possible).  I wondered why
he couldn't just take me there and back, but I figured
beggars couldn't be choosers, so I /consented him.  He
vanished, and I sat for a few minutes wondering if maybe
he was running off with my stuff, but eventually he
returned and handed me everything I had owned.
(Looking back, he may have been low enough level that
he had the self-port NK spell but not the group-port yet.)

I thanked him, and asked him how I could possibly
repay his kindness.  He responded, "a lot of people
have a bad opinion of Druids.  The next time someone
tells you that, just remember that there are some
good ones out there."

I've never forgotten.

Sadly, I've seen a sizable number of my brethren be complete
jackasses...I'm pleased to see that some of us still try to overcome
the stereotype.  Excellent!

One time I took the elevator to the top of PoK library - it goes way up.  I
then turned around and looked down the shaft.  I couldn't quite see all the
way down, so I scooted a little closer.  A little closer.  A little closer.
A little closer...and fell to my death.  I then got a tell from a PC who had
been nearby, "That must have hurt."

I was with a group in Tak and we decided that we're going to try to invis
past some mobs to get to the named.  I go invis, then use my right-click Eye
of Zomm eye to scout.  Everything is "scowling", so I tell everyone that
these things see invis.  I then see one of my invised groupmates run past
them, so I'm confused, but figure somehow invis must work as long as you run
past them really quick.  So I start running and everything jumps me.  I die
quick and leave the rest of the group with a mess.  Truly a Doh! moment.

Back when I exp'd in Velks, I would on occasion duo with a paladin
just inside the entrance, off to the right. Every now and then, a tank
(puller) would fall to his death right on top of us. The paladin said
he'd gotten so used to the rain of warriors and rangers that he didn't
even notice them anymore.

I know i'm double posting but oh well here goes...

Back many years ago when I used to play a human mage on Ayonae Ro
(This was just before Kunark).  My level 12 mage decided to hop on the
boat from Qeynos and see what was around the bend.

I passed eruds crossing, then zoned into erudin, and took a walk
through tox forrest.

I walked into what looked like the entrance to Erudin, and not paying
attention promptly fell into a HUGE hole in the ground.

Yep folks I had found Paineel, and passed right into it into THE HOLE.

Unding! You are now lvl 11 AHH SH!T!

Ok so now I've gotta go get my corpse, get on boat, run through erudin
and tox, go into other entrance.  And have a look a round.

I assumed there was just some stairs or something that I had missed so
I walked all around the BIG hole, seeing a place where it dipped down
a little, I figured it must be a switch back trail, and walked every
so carefully around the inside edge of this huge crater.

I lost my footing and fell head first into the hole yet again.

All of my money was on my corpse, as was all my kewl gear I had
accumulated in my 12 seasons bye bye

Small flaw in your story... The Ayonae Ro server was added after Kunark.
I /movelogged there from Karana when it opened, and I started playing with
a version that included Kunark...

Sorry, you are correct, I was playing pre-kunark and left then came
back to the game between the release of kunark and velious.  The story
is from my second attempt at this game not my first. My apologies

I had lots of the falling out tree episodes, having been born in Kelethin,
but drowning in Crushbone was good time as well... Especially when

I am in water, lower level, swimming [ barely ] in a blind panic as two orc
Centurions who obviously have taken swimming lessons are beating the crap
out of me... I am trying for find a spot where I can get back on shore and
end up in a corner facing a steep cliff where I promply die.

Upon returning to this location, wondering how I am going to get my
underwater body without drowning, I can see clearly it is not there.  I was
sure I was at the right spot!  I search up and down the river, naked and
trying to dodge orcs, and with the help of a higher level I had never met
before, found myself.

Or rather, found a toe...

By drowning/dying while swimming into a corner of two walls, I fell into the
wall and my body was inaccessible, except for one toe sticking out of the
wall on the very bottom of the river.

DOH!

If you are going to drown, do it in the middle of the river...
