I completely agree, in my opinion those rats represent the infastation of rats living in the restraunt, and since the rats brag on how good the food is, they must be eating it.. which would suggest they are walking around on the tables and food and stuff. thats just gross. I used to keep hamsters as pets, but they werent UNDEAD, and they didnt have bulging eyes, and they DIDNT go anywhere NEAR my kitchen.

Their latest line uses the slogan "you gotto eat" and I just dont like it. its really not all that bad but I think the commercials themselves are inconsiderate to the overweight, it mentions at some point in the something about not being able to resist. having no choice, you gotto come eat. im fairly easy going and dont get offended by much but I found that offensive as hell, I infact do have a choice, I can resist, and will never eat there again.

I'd be shocked if most people were as smart as you give them credit for. Obviously the commercial is a gimmick, and whether you love it or hate it, you *remember* it and you're talking about it. That's what they were aiming for, and they hit the mark dead on. It's like that report about Howard Stern's listeners in his movie. I don't remember the quote but the gist was the people who hated him listened even longer than the people who loved him. All you folks complaining about the commercial are unwittingly making it successful. I thrive on irony.

I'd be shocked if most people remember which store the scary rat people ad is for. I didn't, until I saw the thread title. But then, I've never been to a Quizno's, and ain't likely to, either. My choice is for a more subtle reason, though. I can never remember if it's them or that other chain with a green and red logo that took over my favorite cafe and made it a lousy place to hang out.

For me, it's nothing to do with thinking the commercial means they have rats in their restaurants (I don't). It's the fact that they're running a commercial that turns my stomach with its imagery and makes me want to shove a pen in my ears with the horrid singing. Yeah, I change the channel. But a company that runs a commercial that bad is going to drive away more people than it attracts. >< Dark Tyger Big kitty with a big gun

For every one like you who swears at them and promises ever to eat there again, there will be some number (4 or 5? 100?) who will start eating at Quiznos just because they remember the commercials and this discussion.
There's an old saying in the PR and advertising business: "There's no such thing as bad publicity". Quiznos wins either way.

Subway borders on being Oscar Meyer bologna on white bread with yellow mustard grade food. The best always comes from an independent deli that slices the meat fresh and let's you pick and choose what to put on. All the others are basically McDonalds with grinders.

I think part of it is that the photoshopped-in features are human. I have no objection to the singing cats in a meow-mix commercial, even though there's obvious photoshopping involved. The stuff on Leno and Conan is also usually human features on a human background. I think the mixing human and rodent is what turns the stomach. But it could be that the eyes don't move or blink. Or the eeeky whiny voice. That's what really gets me. It bugs me even if I'm not looking at the TV. My GF is pretty quick with the mute button, though.

More than simply that the mouths are human-ish, they're unhealthy, twisted looking human-ish mouths. A human mouth "dubbed" onto a human face isn't bad, though. I never see them dub such ugly mouths onto human pictures in the SNL bits. (And MadTV is a pale imitation of SNL. Modern SNL. And that's bad... >< )

Aha! Shlotsky's (sp?)! I'll bet they're that other place with the green and red logo that wiped out my favorite cafe!
An informal poll of some neighbors:
Love the commercial, love Quiznos, eat there all the time: 1 votes Love Quiznos, the commercial's a bit scary, will still eat there: 2 votes Used to like Quiznos, but won't eat there now that they have scary rats: 1 vote (my girlfriend) What's Quiznos? Those rats are ick. Should I be scared? 1 vote (me)
So the question is, what's scariest? (a) The rats' eyes? (b) Their mouths? (c) Their chalkboard-scratchy voices?
For further discusion: They say you can get a dollar off with any coupon. Any coupon at all. What's the weirdest coupon you could think of taking them?
And, on the subject of green and red logos... I love the Emerald Nuts commercials. Envious Nomads! Evil Navigators! Bwahahahha.
Mmm. Time for more coffee.

Some people will try a place, and not like it. Others will like it and stay. People that go there all the time will continue to go there all the time. They don't give a damn about people that do neither. That's how business works.
Charles Whitney - 22 Feb 2004 19:24 GMT > And when all the hype dies down those new customers will start to fall off > the band wagon and stop going there, or go less and less frequently. while > people like me will *still* not be going there. The whole point of a commercial is to get people to go to the restaurant (or any retail establishment) in the first place. What you're selling is supposed to bring people back, all the commercial needs to do is get the customer to try it. If that commercial gets people to go to Quiznos who wouldn't have before, that's all it needs to do. The commercial just gets their foot in the door.
