speking as someone that has both i'll answer the question what one i use
most ..

I an regualy invites to join LDoN adventures and get good exp from them and
plat is good too .. plus the items you get from the points are not to bad
either

i have honted in LoV about twice .. i do use the extra bank space but i'm
sure i would live wthout it .. and the maps ar usefull but not a nesisity ..

one thing you should look at however is waht spells (if indeed you are a
spell caster ) you are missing out on .. i belive a cleric should go for LoV
first bat most other classes would benifit most from LDoN ..

I'd agree with your sentiment.  It's hard for me to comment on LoY in terms
of content and groups because I've used so little of it.  Meanwhile, putting
up LFG and getting an invite to an LDoN group has been pretty easy.  LoY has
some nice features to recommend it - maps, bank space, LFG tool, drogmors -
but it hasn't seemed to create the same kind of buzz that LDoN has.  I've
seen all kinds of characters doing LDoN, including guys with Elemental
Planes gear, so it must have something to recommend it to a wide spectrum of
players.  In general, I would recommend LDoN over LoY.

My playing habits have changed. When I was single, I could play all I
wanted. Now that I'm not, I can't.

LDoN allows me to play in 30 minute increments, plus the time required
to get a group together. I feel like I can still stay involved in the
game without checking out of reality for hours at a clip, which probably
would not wash well with the significant other.

It's an excellent solution for me, and I'm enjoying the game again. LDoN
is the way to go.

I'd like to get involved in this as I have time problems too due to poor
health... I haven't grouped much with other people and mostly played
conservatively, and being 56 druid without much experience with
raiding/dungeons etc has made me very wary of embarassing myself or
resulting in other peoples deaths in a LDON adventure.

I have a 20 beastlord but haven't been able to get into an adventure with
him to 'learn the ropes' and can't find an equivalent to eq atlas to learn
the zones.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Don't sweat it too much -- start looking for and joining LDON groups and
just be frank with the groupleader that you're new to it. People will fill
you in on what's different about it. It's not rocket science after all, and
you've taken a character to lvl56 so people shouldn't act like you're a
clumsy newbie.

There are no printable maps to LDoN dungeons but the cartographic tool works
well for it. You should download all the map files at www.eq-toolbox.com and
then start using the in-game tool.

I see few LDoN groups as low as the low 20s, better that you level the
beastlord up to around 30 or even 40 (which is quite easy to do solo, from
my own experience) first. Then start taking him into LDoN and he'll do well
there.

Here's a link with maps of the various themes:
http://www.krak.net/~bacon/nytrous/gallery.html

Here's a link with some of the items that can be purchased with adventure
points:
http://www.squidbox.com/skp/eq/ldon/list.cgi

If you have LoY, the latest download at maps.eq-toolbox.com should have all
the LDoN maps.

Ykesha is a complete waste of zone files, and I would only ever get it to
have the mapping (which should have been available to everyone).
LDON actually provides you with alternatives to xp and loot, so I would say
go for that.
