I used this program to test my Matrox G450, and it
scored a benchmark of 1448. The card plays most
games well, but not the Snow Fields episodes in MOH.
There I have frame rates around 1 to 2 ( if that ). I just
purchased ( on sale ) an ATI Radeon 9K Pro 128 meg,
and it benchmarked at 6668. I notice big changes in
MOH and JDoom both. Frames are very smooth in
texture, and much faster as would be expected. Also,
I have more music .. and the Germans are speaking
German all over the place ??? In MOH, I'm proceeding
to the Snow Fields episode. I'll report back on what
I see regards frame rate and playability. I also tested
both cards using 3DMARK03. The Matrox card
failed totally with 3D refusing to run any tests on it.
3D checked out the ATI 9000, and seemed to like it,
scheduling all but 1 test. I started the tests, and the
first 2 tests looked really great, however, the computer
crashed with error message "device failure" on the 3rd
test ??? Reboot restored system OK, but I'm not
running that test again. The only problem I saw with
the ATI beyond that was that the programs ran a bit
dark. I found a setting on the ATI that brightened things
up considerably, but did not seem to improve the
"quality" of the color for want of a better word. Be
interesting to see Doom3 on this card. Maybe by the
time Doom3 comes out, I'll be ready for a new computer
anyway.

Vast improvement .. frame rates average 60+, and
I see more game elements that were not there ..
such as when walking on a snowy hillside, I tend
to slide down unless I walk fast ... moving fog, and
realistic snow fall. Would sure like to know why the
card crashed in 3DMARK03. It was handling frame
rates of 140+, and is working fine in all my games.
