Won't Run Please help

I have just installed D3 and when launching the game after less than a
minute I get the following Error Message
C:\Program Files\Doom 3\doom3.exe and the freezes but the sound (music)
continues.

Can any of you help? (Please)

Should have added the following.
This Error is a "Runtime Error" abnormal program termination.

Hi again my computer spec is as follows:-
Athlon 3200+ with 1Gb Ram, AOpen Mother board Creative 3D Blaster 5
Graphics card (128) with the lastes (as of Yesterday) Drivers installed ,
Audigy 2 ZS Sound Card again with latest driver.

Ok, now what exact model is the AOpen motherboard, and what is a CL 3D
Blaster 5 video card? Nvidia? Which one? ATI? Which one of theirs?
Getting closer....yep...just a little more info :)

Hi The MoBo is an AOpen VIA KT600 AK77-600GN and the Graphics card is NVIDIA
5600 128kb

Hope this helps and thanks again for the reply as you may have guessed my
knowledge of the inside of a PC is limited to say the least.

Do you have the latest drivers for your video card ?
This is very improtant.
How about DirectX 9,0b ?

Hi again,

It looks as though I have cured my prpblem by uninstalling XP Service Pack
2.
Game now runs fine.
If only everything in life were that simple
