Is it possible to play Doom II using a more advanced engine?  Or are
there Doom levels made using another engine?  Or are there doom
textures for games like Quake2?  Thanks.

Hi,
Here is a link for Quake II doom levels:

JDoom with the add-on 3-D texture sprite packs installed sure reminded me
alot of Quake. ;-)

www.doomworld.com

Check the Ports section, you'll find Doom engine ports like ZDoom,
JDoom, Vavoom, EDGE, Legacy with OpenGL/Direct3D graphics, new game
features (jumping) etc.

Yeah there is a good engine at  : http://www.doomsdayhq.com
This engine also works with Heretic and Hexen.
Graphics are so goods in Open GL and in hi-res :-)
There is also 3D models.
And finaly, this engine work on LAN and even over Internet, using TCP/IP or
CirctPlay connexion.
Have Fun ;-)
