You can take a look at them in the alt.binaries.doom group.
Not the best shots, but some funny ones.
That might give a clue to some who can't ajust the brightness
or gamma to their taste; Complaining it's too dark all the time.

P4HT 2.8@3Ghz, 1GB DDR 400 800Mhz FSB (P4P800E deluxe)
Radeon 9800Pro DVI/TV, Catalyst 4.8 Omega for now. Humus D3 fix.
1024x768 HQ, All candies except AA... 16xAF.
Barely enough to enjoy all candies; But it's really sweet to play on this sh.t.
8) .. You should see UT2003 and 2004 fly on this thing... I upgraded this year.
Amazed how stable this new system is compared to my former 1Ghz Celery
Windoze98.
I use LviewPro to post-process the images only for Gamma and convert to
JPG 80% quality.
Cheers Servo,

A little too bright for my taste. Colours got alittle washed out.

I perfectly understand where this might not be correct for all.
These images were taken from my 'GOOD' machine, and I did the 'gamma fix'
on my older machine (www box); Which is using a crappy monitor ajusted to its best.
I could never reach the same image quality I get on my good NEC.
Bringing the gamma too high, does wash-out the colors. But it cures the rest.
Hence; someone with a good monitor and right setup as I David is using I presume;
will find a little too 'bright' and washed-out.
Someone complaining already it's too dark might find it more appropriate.
In all cases; You are all right saying that gamma is no replacement for vintage or cheap monitor.
Most average 3D games are "colorful and bright", and won't reveal how crummy the monitor
really is.
Although Gamma helps... A real quality monitor will need little ajustment from Doom?'s defaults,
and will show an excellent depth of colors.
Your comment is welcome Chalky. Indeed.
You are a welcome *first* to complain Doom? 'too bright"...
Yay !

Lately, I've been leaving the gamma to its defaults and turning the
brightness in my nvidia driver's control panel to about 113%. I find that
even though the menus looked bleached, the game looks beautiful.
