Hi

Is there some sceret for getting the red key for Community Chest 3,
MAP26? It looks to me like a Strafe jump across across the final gap.
But try as I might (and I think the surface has friction), I cant make
it across.

Using PRBoom

Thanks

No secret, but arguably you took a wrong turn at the start of the map.

It is possible, but very difficult - I believe the size of the gap is
the absolute maximum possible for a strafe50 jump (192 units)

Anyway, at the start, instead of turning left into the grey rock tunnels
that lead to the red key, you need to first turn right and hurl yourself
down the slime river. This will (eventually!) lead to a cavern at the
south of the map, with a switch on the far side.

I can understand why one would be inclined to go the wrong way at first.
Jumping down a slime river to an unknown fate and no guarantee of
returning intact appears to be a much more reckless choice than
carefully venturing off into some harmless-looking rock tunnels... :)

Thanks, I got there. I was just about to post a message that I had
done just that and the green ooze has raised where the red key is.
