Doom 3 pc multiplayer

Im having trouble getting multiplayer to work. I know im connected to
the internet, iv got broadband, and iv turned off the firewall. What
happens is i click on multiplayer, the little list comes up 'join a
server, start a server etc', so i click on 'join' and the curser
freezes and nothing happens although the music keeps playing, it wont
even go back on windows. Ive got quite a new pc that meets all the
requirments. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

First off, try running the game in Windowed mode - this won't solve the
issue directly, but at least you'll get to kill the game if it hangs
like that.

In addition, you can more easily collect the symptoms - such as CPU
usage, net activity, and so on.
