After updating (to play online) all of my save games start me back in
the spot where I initially get the pistol right before heading outside
-- so pre-demons.  I've downloaded a .rar full of [someone else's]
auto-saves to try one of those and it has the same issue.  I get stuck
back talking to the guy behind the glass at the beginning of the game
who says to pick up my weapon (pistol and armor).

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Use a console command to skip to the level you were up to, and another
to give yourself ammo. Yes a bit of cheating. Google will give you
the instructions.

Fair enough!

Is the game save problem something fairly common?

Thanks again.

I suspect saved games are only valid for the version of Doom 3 it has
been patched to, and/or added mods... it probably doesn't depend on cd
key but I could be wrong.

Sorry to pop in this late, but the same thing happened to me the other
day... Got told to upgrade Doom 3 when I tried the multiplayer option,
thought to myself 'what the hell, I can just as well upgrade, won't do
any harm'... But harm it did :)

About the online play, any fun in it? Seemed like only a few servers
were populated when I looked (could be the 'wrong time' though).
