Are you talking about the Windows version of Final DOOM (DOOM95.EXE) and not
the two DOS Final Doom executables?
If so -> DOOM95 is flaky. I have used it many times in the past
1) If you save right during the point when an archvile attacks and restore,
the restore will fail (but that is true of original Doom as well)
2) DOOM95 also fouls up restoring a game when any monsters are busy
attacking. At this point you have to close DOOM95 (and for Windows 95/98/ME,
a reboot may be necessary).
You are better off downloading the Doomsday engine which can play at higher
resoutions than what FD offers.

Yup, sorry, just rechecked what I had written above, I meant "Final Doom for
Win95 CD"
and is the DOOM95.EXE
