Hi.
I bought and installed Doom 3 and RoE.
RoE updated Doom to version 1.2.
I then ran Doom, and it asked if I wanted to upgrade to version 1.3. I
downloaded the 1.3 update, but it says it's already patched to version 1.3
and can't be installed again.
The console says version 1.2.1287.
A relevant registry entry seems to be HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Id\Doom3,
where Version = 1.2.
Another is
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\2C8096BF8312E6D4C9FA117DEAC69390, where
version = 0x01020000 (16908288).
Another is
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\Products\8B7624850BB081D4F9AF27566716E9A9, where
Version = 0x01030000 (16973824) - I tried changing that to 0x01020000, but
that didn't work either...
I can't connect to any servers, and I can't run CDoom (which requires 1.3),
so I am pretty sure Doom is definitely at version 1.2 only.
I have tried reinstalling on a different drive but it doesn't fix it.
Anyone got any ideas?
I emailed support@activision.co.uk, but no reply yet.
Cheers,
Martin.

I only have D3, but try installing D3 and 1.3, and then RoE

That's my next option, but I just know it's not going to work...

Completely uninstall everything.
Get the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301
Check and see if there's still a record of Doom 3 in the installer list.
For example my list shows:
(All Users) Doom 3 [1.00.0000]
(All Users) Doom 3 [1.2]
(All Users) Doom 3 [1.3]
(All Users) Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil [1.0]
Remove the Doom 3 entries.
That should fix your problem, then I'd follow rms's suggestion and
install Doom 3 then patch it to 1.3 before installing ROE.

That fixed it. Just deleted the (All Users) Doom 3 [1.3] item, and I was
able to complete the update.
Well batted that man!
Cheers,
Martin.
