Can't get a USB or a wireless mouse to operate in Doom II. Anybody had this
problem with XP? Game seems to work ok - just the mouse is inoperative. No
problem in WinMe...
Thanks.

Heard of this problem before. Not sure there's a way around it. Just use a
source port like jDoom or Legacy unless you really want to use the dos
version for some reason.

You need to use either the Dos version, or one of the source ports.
Source ports for Doom:

Noticable ones are prBoom (compatability), ZDoom (versatility), and JDoom
(improved rendering). Other options are available, but aren't as popular.

The reason is that it accesses the mouse through a VXD file, which
Windows XP does not support. So its either no mouse or another version
or the engine, as suggested above.

I recently bought the Doom Collecors Edition and found the mouse inoperative
under WinXp.
I downloaded & installed jDoom (freeware) and now it all works perfectly.
