Why a bug? In 1.09 she was just a moving decoy, nothing more. She's better
than any merc now. I had lvl23 valk, she died about 5 times on a hell run
from blood moor to Baal.

Damn Hans, I only posted, like, a bazillion times, about all the new Valk
bonuses!  Seems Hans is too GOOD to read MY posts.   :)

It's better than you think, not only do they gain defense, attack, AND
elemental resist bonuses, but they now inherit YOUR passive skills.  If you
have 20 points in Dodge or Critical Strike, THEY have 20 points in Dodge or
Critical Strike.  Better still, all Valks now generate Life Leech on their
weapon in addition to any secondary skill you would find on a Lance (% to
Nova, % to Chain Lightning, etc) IN ADDITION TO the bonuses they gain from
their armor, which now color-corresponds to that skill!  So if your Amazon
casts with red armor, she has +to Life, if she comes up Orange, then she has
"Attacker Takes Damage X",  if she rolls Blue armor, then she has a % to
Nova.

So what does that mean? The Valk is now as good as your merc for tanking and
may last just as long!
