I have a question for all the Original Diabko players out there.
After you kill Diablo the end animation plays. After you press escape
or click the left mouse button, the main menu appears. What I want to know
is can you save the game after killing Diablo?
Another point, before leaving. This is a Diablo newsgroup. It sadly
attracts a lot of posts with nothing to do with Diablo. Many are racist,
stupid, nasty, ugly and ridiculous. Set up your own post, where sad people
like you can post your poisonous drivel. That's all.

With the Lord of Destruction expansion the game doesn't end when you
kill Diablo, so you can definitely save it there!

Unfortunately those are crossposts from another group courtesy of a mass
post-flooding troll.

Original Diablo's expansion pack was called Hellfire ;)

While I'll admit that anyone can make a mistake once, to go on making
the same lethal errors century after century seems to me nothing short
of deliberate.--V.

Not in single player, I don't think. I haven't played single player since
about 1997 though, so I'm not certain. Play it multiplayer, and you can go
on to further difficulty levels. There's a workaround for that in single
player too, but I only vaguely remember how it works--start a multiplayer
game, then cancel out and start a single player game and you have the
option of playing nightmare or hell modes or something like that. Google
is your friend ;).
Best,
Mark.

First you had to get a multiplayer character up to whatever difficulty
you wanted to play your single player in, and start a multiplayer game
in that difficulty. Then you exited back to the screen where you
could choose single player and chose that. Then you started a new
game. It never gave you any options to select a difficulty, but the
game would effectively be in whatever difficulty you'd just come from
in the multiplayer game. Great way to level up a new single player
sorc. Just make it think it's a hell difficulty game and for the
first few kills you'd be getting a level up or so for each kill you
made. ; )
(I suggest a sorc, though a rogue might work too, but I suspect a
warrior would just get flattened as soon as they got into melee range
with the mobs)

Actually, you can, but only have a fraction of a second to do it in.
I've managed it a couple times, but it's no big deal if you don't,
IIRC D himself doesn't give you much in the way of experience points.
