Why all the off-topic posts?

What off-topic posts?
I don't see any off-topic posts.
Oh, wait, that is because I set my newsreader to ignore any post that is
cross-posted to more than two ng's. :D
They are trolls that originally came here because a regular from here was
'fighting' with them in other ng's and either forgot to clear this one or
they googled to see that he posted here too.  Doesn't matter now since
they are here even tho that particular regular is not posting here
anymore.
There should be a way or three for you to be able to block them.  Either
killfile them (not a long term solution for nym changers), or tell your
reader to ignore posts that include certain ng's (check the trolls
headers, you should soon see which I mean), or just ignore anything going
to 3 or more groups.

Unfortunately OE doesn't let you ignore a particular NG unless you subscribe
to it :( Which is really damn stupid IMO.

And then it doesn't impliment the rule anyway! At least that was my
experience. <shrug>

That's the problem I'm having with T-bird. No rule I make does anything
in newsgroups. I make all kinds of filters for regular email, and they
all work fine. But not in NG's

I haven't used Thunderbird for NG's, only for email, so did/do not know
how good or bad it is lately.  Have you sent complaints / suggestions to
them?  From what I understand, they try to 'fix' things fairly quickly
if/when they are brought to their (Mozilla developers) attention.

And why is someone that's nym is calling the head of MS evil, using OE in
the first / middle / last place?
There are many, many (better) alternative newsreader programs, quite a few
are free too.

I'm used to OE, I've been using it for years and years. It's simple and
straightforward. I did try Agent once but I couldn't get along with it. I
use Windows too despite it sucking like a black hole, because it's the only
OS that'll run all my games natively.
(As for my nick, I use it nowadays just because I always have <g> It's
nearly 10 years old now and if I changed it nobody would recognise me ;)
LOL)

The same here, except that I tried Firefox and I just didn't like it as
well as OE.

This is the main reason I have not gone to some flavor of linux, or even a
Mac.

Understood about the nick, but there are *many* progs, not just Agent.
See below.

Err... Firefox is a browser, I hope you meant Thunderbird, their
(Mozilla's) e-mail and newsgroup program?
Thunderbird has been updated quite a bit lately, it may be worth a second
(or first for EB) look.

ROFL, yes, Mozilla, that's what I meant.  It's been so long that Firefox was
the only thing I could think of at the time.  And I do have to say that it's
been about 10 years since I've looked at it.  Maybe I'll give it another
try.

I wouldn't use IE if you paid me. I only use Firefox, it's really got better
heaps in the last few years and has these great 'plug-ins' like AdBlockPlus
that removes 90% of the ads in webpages with zero input from user.

Still stuck on OE though. :-(

Still won't work with Windows Update though. <g>

True. As you can't actually remove IE from Windows anyway (without
third-party software) that's not a problem, it's always there.
