TAKE HEED AND BEAR WITNESS TO THE TRUTHS THAT LIE HEREIN, FOR THEY ARE
THE LAST LEGACY OF THE HORADRIM...

Kheperkare woke after a nap to find a paladin and a barbarian in town,
getting ready to head to Travincal, so she asked if she could hitch a
ride ("I'll pick up the Black Book later on...") and skip the usual
Here-We-Go-Gathering-Giblets-In-May...

Out the trio headed, the pally switching back and forth from Conviction
to break the still all-too-common lightning immunities. The Valk needed
recasting once during the battle with the Council, and a lone minion
nearly escaped, but soon they went down and it was into the Durance via
waypoint. Tidbit the singing barb's Find Item coughed up truly shocking
amounts of gold while when Kheperkare popped open a chest a Dol rune
fell out.

"Nice," she said, pocketing it. "Best rune I've found in months!"

Level 2 of the Durance was huge, stuffed to the max with monstrosities
of multiple hues and shapes (but no dolls, thankfully). Back and forth
our heroes ranged, fragging badly behaved beasties left, right and
centre. Bosses and champions and lightning-immunes were broken and fell
to warcries and Lightning Fury and Jab from mercs and javazon alike...
holy bolts lit up the black interiors of the Zakarum Temple.

Finally, they found the stairs down. The welcoming committee charged
out, tossing fireballs and going BZZZZZZZ as more Lightning Fury bounced
off the walls. Kheperkare found herself face to face with an LE FE CE
Bremm and Jabbed and cast Decoy until he backed off and exploded,
scattering pots everywhere. WhatsHisFace on the left-hand alcove was
next, and them up to the Big Floating Freak Himself.

"You're too late! Ahahahaha!" he howled, spewing thick green poison
clouds everywhere.
Kheperkare just shook her head ("Oh come on, who *talks* like that??")
and the trio laid into him. Soon he was dissipating in a blast of light,
dropping nothing of interest, and after a brief detour to see
WhatsHisFace in the *right*-hand alcove, it was on to the Pandemonium
Fortress!

And time for a nap.

(Thanks to Anne and Bruce for the company and waypoints! *grins*)

Finghting a losing battle, I feel... the trolls are all but gone, but
no-one yet seems to have figured that out and come back. <g>

The lions sing and the hills take flight.
The moon by day, and the sun by night.
Blind woman, deaf man, jackdaw fool.
Let the Lord of Chaos rule!

While I'll admit that anyone can make a mistake once, to go on making
the same lethal errors century after century seems to me nothing short
of deliberate.--V.

There's a Life of Brian pun here just on the edge of thought.
