Hellfire bug? Diablo 'freezing' while dying

Hi folks,

Been playing Hellfire for the first time and I have a problem. Diablo
has been killed but he is 'frozen' in the death sequence (with blood
squirting out of his belly). I can't hit him, there's no 'mouse over' or
anything.

"Diablo" appears in the quest log and Cain will talk to me about him
(but no other NPCs have 'Diablo' in the 'talk' menu).

Consequently I can't advance to Nightmare level.

Is this a known issue? I hope it doesn't happen often. It looks like the
only way around it is to start a new game and go through all the quests
again.

Ideas? Suggestions? Thanks.

Hi Brennan,

It's been a long time since I played Diablo/Hellfire (I play D2/LoD now) and
I don't ever remember this happening. Perhaps someone else may have info
about it if it's a known bug.

Cheers,

Shaun. (I'm crossposting this to alt.games.diablo2 as AGD has become a troll
stomping ground, most of the players have gone there. Someone there might be
able to help).

It's been years since I've played the Hellfire mod, but I did get all of the
way
through the game in Hell with most of the characters.  So I don't think
there
is a bug with it.  IIRC, I did have a problem with one of my characters
when I tried to open some chests, the game just rebooted it's self.  I put
in a bug report on it and was told that it might be something on my system
with that character that was causing the problem.  So other that trying
a new character or reloading D1/Hellfire and trying again, I can't help
much.
Good luck.
