It's certainly long past time we reclaimed this NG. :)

What has been happening in the "game that shall not be named" comes directly out of AGD2 if i'm not mistaken, this is just another attempt at filtering those scumbags out. Yourself, Misfit, Dave and I obviously still read the group, and i think that any good thing is always worth fighting for. Think of it as a test to see who amongst us has the greatest will to win. That said, i wouldn't mind if the word was passed around "friendly" games ( i'm pretty sure you'll understand what i mean by this) and a few other people decided that AGD was worth the effort :) I do feel really sorry for the people that use google groups though :\

Anyone who's incapable of setting up a newsreader and subscribing to a free news server (I'm subscribed to two, one in Germany, one in Italy, as well as my ISPs one, just as back-up) *deserves* pity.

btw: I'm still reading this group, too ... hoping that still some d2-related stuff will eventually pop up. :-(

Hi Christian,
I mainly use my ISP's one as it has slightly faster propogation that the free ones.
The free ones I use are:
Motzarella.org (Louis would love that one) http://motzarella.org/en/index.php
X-privat.org http://www.x-privat.org/international.php
(I see x-privat says something about invites for their free service. That wasn't the case when I joined, I don't know if I can invite you if you want to join...)
I think x-privat limits their free accounts to something like 20 posts a day. I think motzarella is the pick of the two but it wouldn't hurt to try to register with both.
There was also a news server that used to be free, run by a German university I think. I used to use them exclusively. However, they went to pay, 10 Euros a year, and I didn't have access to a credit card at the time. If I did i would have stayed with them as they were better than my old ISPs service.
I hardly use those two as my current ISP has a reasonable service. However, being the cautious old fart that I am, I signed up for them when I heard them being discussed in another group and download (and rarely post to) a couple of groups on each on a daily basis.
(Strange that the German one is called Motzarella....... You'd think it'd be the Italian one)
