Agent users probably already know this, but I thought I'd throw it out
there in case someone does not.

I am sure there is a similar way to do this with another newsreader,
but I only use Agent.

Subscribe to soc.culture.jewish or soc.culture.israel or both if you
are on a fast connection, sometimes there are a lot of posts.  Then go
into group properties for alt.games.diablo and go to the crossposts
tab.  Click overide default settings, click "do not retrieve it" and
then if you retrieve headers in the soc groups BEFORE downloading
headers into this newsgroup, it will skip all of the stupid
crossposted sh.t because it already retrieved them once in the soc
newsgroups.  Voila, a clean (mostly) newsgroup.  Easier than trying to
killfile every dipshit that replies to the troll.

I haven't seen anything from the troll or those replying to him in about a
week now. Whether that means my killfile is fully up to date or they've
finally started removing the crossposts when responding (or both) I don't
know. I tend towards the latter, since Google Groups shows almost entirely
on-topic threads in here of late. :)

Not today. :-( Four or so new additions to the krillfile.

Then again I have reformatted and, even though I saved my OE store folder
and carried it over, I don't seem to have retained my krillfile.

<sigh> The pleasure of highlighting the messages, hitting 'block sender',
then, in true Microsoft "We know you're a dummy" fashion, having to click a
confirm button.

Sadly, no, killfiles don't carry over even if you backup the OE files. :(

They are stored in the registry.

Start -> Run -> regedit -> OK

This is for the killfile:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\{ID}\Software\Microsoft\Outlook
Express\5.0\Block Senders
Menu Registry -> export registry file -> Save with a name of your liking

And this is for your news filtering rules:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\{ID}\Software\Microsoft\Outlook
Express\5.0\Rules\News

When you want to import the rules on a new machine you have to open the
*.reg files above with a plain text editor and exchange the {ID} with
the ID you can see when you open regedit and navigate to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities on this new machine. Save and doubleclick
the file to import all settings.

If somebody prefers the original text that I shamelessly translated
from, it can be found here:

Hehee! No, I'll take your version. Thanks Gundemarie, I've copied this to my
"Saved" folder. (Which I *do* manage to copy from install to install). :-)

*shrug*  He comes and goes.  Probably has to take time off to let his
wrists heal up before the next masturbatory flurry of crap.  I had not
checked the group lately and out of a potential 1400 headers, only
about 100 posts made it through.  Which made me assume he was
currently around.  At any rate.

It's getting damn hot.  I figure in another couple of weeks I will be
finding time to play again.

Dont' know about you, but I find the tought of him working his a.s off
to add AGD to every post he makes, while no one here sees it to be
HYSTERICAL. I would tell him that no one sees his posts, but why when I
can sit here laughing my a.s off at him :)

It's all the idiots who reply to him without removing the crossposts who are
a pain. I could never really get the hang of Agent or XNews so if I wanted
to filter out the other NGs I'd have to subscribe to them... stupid OE.

Even the it doesn't work. At least it didn't when I tried it a few months
back. Subscribed to the groups in question and set it to D/L headers only.
Still got the Xposted crap.

I guess I'm gonna have to learn Xnews one day. I only use OE for NGs, I
wouldn't use it for email.

I can send you my score file for agd if you like. It has gotten rid of all
of the crossposting.

Ohhh!! Yes please. I'm not sure if I'm gonna do it yet but having that on
hand would be a big push in the right direction. I can be reached on misfit
at orcon dot net nz or misfitnz at gmail.

Thanks Marcel.
